I think the 2 editions you are refering to are identical. At first, Fantoma's DVDs were distributed by Image Entertainment, but now, I think they are with Ryko. THe Image Entertainment became OOP when Fantoma switched to Ryko, and Ryko's is now going OOP.
The DVD quality is quite alright. You should pick it up before it's too late.

Mill of the Stone Women?
Is this because of the small glitch on the disc? Are they re-releasing a corrected copy? Anybody have any info? This is Mondo's best film in my opinion. Any Bava fan should have it....even though it's not a Bava.

I have found that at local stores the Special Edition of Jeepers Creepers 1 (possibly 2 will follow, although I didn't have a problem finding that) and the Special Edition of The Terminator are becoming non-existant. Both of these are being replaced by bare bones versions with the same cover, the only difference is the lack of the "Special Edition" banner at the top. It also seems that the Special Edtions of Fargo and Total Recall are following this trend. Has anyone else noticed this?

Some time last year, it appears that MM switched their distribution from Ventura to Rykodisc. Only recently have the notices of the Ventura releases going out-of-print started to surface. This is more than likely due to an arrangement with Ventura that they didn't have to pull their copies back from the market. This is similar to the move of Sundance to Hart Sharp, except that this deal looks to have required Showtime to pull their versions from the pipeline at the time of the switch.

MGM does this with a lot of their SEs once they hit the $14.95 MSRP. If the SE is a flipper or has 2 discs they'll make it a single-sided 1-disc version. They've done this with a ton of titles: Legally Blonde, Bull Durham, Terminator, Jeepers Creepers, Fargo, Bowling for Columbine, etc.
Also, it keeps the same UPC # so if you order from an online retailer, you don't know which one you're gonna get.

Anyway, the Scarface Anniversary disc is already OOP? The 2-disc 20th? I'm glad I have it, not that I expect it to become scarce. This list is useful but demoralising for me, as there are DVDs that I've been intending to get for years but haven't and are probably going out of print, or something will happen in the case of Terminator. Bloody hell. Funny that the Army of Darkness Boomstick edition is OOP--fucking Anchor Bay will just release a new goddamned edition, while the old barebones but fine Universal disc is still in print, isn't it?

Various sources, but mostly from major distributors to the vendors. These suppliers are usually the first to find out that studios are no longer fulfilling orders. Some online vendors get their information from the same sources, but usually don't list the information until their stock dries up. It's all part of the daily upkeep of our online database of Region 1 DVD releases.

I noticed that Batman: The Animated Series, Vol. 1 is going OOP!!! Is there going to be a re-issue? I have been waiting for more money before buying this series, but I'll bite the bullet and buy it NOW if it is going OOP!!
