anyone else with the "Made in Mexico" DVD's had any problems on the flip side?

Also, why did they use the same cover as the previous release? couldn't they do something different this time?

My old version had a really horrible pic of Michael J Fox on the cover, not this white ghost face.

I believe the original barebones release had the white ghost face cover, then it was re-release not that long ago with the really bad picture of MJFox on it. Now, the SE has the better ghost face cover again. I imagine they did the bad cover re-release in order to put different stock in the stores, so people could tell the difference when the SE was released.

I kinda had a feeling the SE was coming when I saw that cover. I knew it couldn't be that horrible without a good reason behind it.

I've never seen this. Is this worth buying. I'm a huge fan of Peter Jackson flicks and the Free Ticket to King Kong it comes with is pretty nice as well.

Yes... Most definitely... The movie itself may not be the best Peter Jackson, but it's still excellent. The disc itself is incredible. The documentary is worth the asking price alone.

You know, I remember seeing the movie when it was first released in the theaters, and I didn't like it at all.

I thought I would give it another shot on DVD, and I liked it a great deal. Maybe I was going in with different expectations when I first saw it, but this time it was just a heck of a lot of fun.

While the 4-1/2 hour documentary sounds interesting, I don't know when I'll actually have time to watch it.

And the King Kong movie ticket really sealed the deal for me.

No, it wasn't raised...and it wasn't white so much as it was an off white or creamish colour... I hate slip covers, so neither of my copies have the raised ghost face :P

It wasn't. It was just a regular paper insert.

Any comments on the sound? I remember a friend saying AGES ago that the original release had some mind blowing audio on it. But this was before anyone knew what DTS was.
Is Jeffrey Combes on the documentary a lot? I'd like to see what he's like out of character for once. Very interesting actor.

Jeffrey Combs does appear in sit down interviews. He seems like a pretty normal, humble guy.

I haven't received my dvd copy of the director's cut yet (mine will be the German 4-disc with dts on the DC), but I do have the original R1 dvd release, the Director's Cut laserdisc box set, and the DTS laserdisc, and the dts laserdisc blows both the DC LD and the original R1 dvd out of the water.

Hmm... the German version from CDWOW still hasn't shipped. Anyone know if this has been delayed or what? Did a search on the net and it turned up nothing. I'm sure there's more than a few of us waiting for it.

I'm still waiting for mine to ship but I read on other forums about people receiving theirs. They appear to be in the minority, however.

Did anyone order The Frighteners DC through Columbia House, and if so did it come with the King Kong movie ticket? (Rumors are it doesn't which is not very nice.)

I received a copy of this movie yesterday from CH. I didn't open it nor did it have any stickers on the front advertising the ticket (like the onesin the stores). This seems to me that it doesn't have it and it is rather cheap of CH and Universal to not have it in there. I thought that CH releases were identical in content and packaging as the retailers. I do know now (after an incident with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) that CH changes the UPC code by a number or two. I know what i'm doing with this copy and I don't give a rats ass what anyone thinks.

EDIT: After giving this one a very thorough shake test, I am 99.9% sure there is no ticket inside. Cheap ass sons a bitches.
