I'm hoping for an HD DVD release, but not holding my breath since i didn't see "HD DVD" mentioned at all in either of those articles.

If I'm reading that article right, the initial DC DVD will be also included within the 2007 Final Cut set, so unless there are exclusive extras, like in Ridley's two Kingdom of Heaven sets, I'll have to wait for the 2007 FC version.

Good gravy! All I can say is - ABOUT TIME!!!

Still this set stands to rival Criterion's Brazil in terms of the most alternate versions of a film in a set.

Criterion only presents two versions of Brazil in that set, which isn't a particularly large number...

Maybe you're thinking of Criterion's Mr. Arkadin. Or Terminator 2.

You are also forgetting about the Dawn of the Dead UE. Theatrical, Extended, and European cuts.

So the FC set will have four versions presented. With a "wide array" of extras, I wonder how many discs we're looking at.

This is the best news i have heard i a long time. This is my favourite film of all time and i personally think that i am its biggest fan. I have seen the film well over 700 times and it still just keeps getting better. I already have copies of all the versions previously released, but will like to see if they add anything more to the Internationak cut (i loved the extra violence that was in this version...but i read that there was even more cut that could be added). Would also like to know how much of the Holden in the respiratory machine still exists to be added. Plus seeing the Edge of Bladerunner Mark Kermode doc from about 6 years ago will be nice as well.

Let the world rejoice....today is a good day.

Great news though I will be waiting for the larger release next year and hold on to my current Bladerunner disc until then.

I hope it's true, and I can't wait! I'll probably skip the first DC release because I have the HD broadcast saved already, however, I'll definitely be getting the "ultimate edition" set next year.

The Digital Bits also report that Paramount will release Ridley Scott's Black Rain in October in a new Collector's Edition!

Great news, will buy for sure.

Paramount, can you finally release 1492: Conquest Of Paradise on this day for the 1st time on dvd in the USA. I mean, this is the ultimate chance to tie another Ridley film with this huge release.

Anybody on the mountain hear me?

Great news. I think I'll just hold on my DC DVD until the Ultimate Edtion comes out next year. Can't wait to see it in theaters, though.

Call me an idiot, but as disappointed as I am to hear about Star Wars, I'm still excitied they're being released. But not only Star Wars. We're getting DVDs I've waited to own since I started collecting.

We've got Apocalypse Now (again, no Hearts of Darkness, but still...) Godzilla in both versions, the Six Moral Tales boxed set, Brisco County Junior, that special edition of Double Indemnity. The Star Trek Animated series to make every Star Trek show ever on DVD. A whole bunch more. Now Bladerunner.

So, let's just theorize that, following this awesome pattern of September(ish) releases, we'll soon hear announcements from Universal for The Incredible Shrinking Man and from Criterion for Bottle Rocket and The Magnificent Ambersons.

September is when we're also getting three Kubrick titles in anamorphic widescreen, including the unrated Eyes Wide Shut.

What this all really means is that the world will end in August.

Excellent news! I'm especially looking forward to the theatrical release of the FC since I have not seen Blade Runner in a theater since 1982 (yeah, I missed the DC release ). That should be a lot of fun.

DVDwise, I'll wait for the ultimate set, and I'll possibly wait for ti in some form of HD - dunno yet, depends what things look like next year. I can live with what I've got for a while yet.
