i'm betting the extra 16 minutes includes a Chaney Bio and itroduction by Osbourne. it is a great idea, though i wish a true copy would surface.

Was it the same guy who counted 20 min episodes of the "Simpsons", "South Park", and "Family Guy" as "horror movies"?

Also, a question about the free month of Netflix. Does anyone know if that offer expires soon? I'd like to sign up for it so I have it all of October!

Yeah, they probably do edit.

Anyways, I have a question as to if something will count. 100 Years of Horror 5-Disc Documentary that just came out. Each episode runs about 23-24 minutes each. Anyway these can be packaged together to count towards the tally?

Yeah. Once upon a time prior to 1998 when the AMC actually stood for American Movie Classics, they were much like TCM in that they would play actually "classic" films uncut, commercial-free and in the original aspect ratio. They even had John Burke, who was their own version of TCM's host Robert Osborne. Now they're just like any other basic cable network that edits movies for content, airs them in full-screen and has commercial breaks.

Wow, I forgot it had been that long. I thought AMC was ruined about the same time as Bravo, but I guess it was sooner.

Yes,they aired the original early 80's tv version! And I'm sure that's what will be airing this year. The added footage is very small and hard to notice(less than 2 minutes added I think, mostly extra dialogue etc),but you will be able to marvel at old school tv censorship with this version!

If you think tv censorship is bad today(well in the case of Showgirls,it is!). It was much more strict and extreme 'back in the day'. So check it out if you get the chance!

This version is 100% cleaned up and completely re-edited,that it doesn't resemble the theatrical cut at all.

And some fans love to call this version the "Rosenthal Cut". It is not Rosenthals original edit of the film. He may not be a great director, but he's not as terrible as this tv edit makes him appear to be!

I'm in... although I doubt I will get anywhere near 100. I also watch a lot of cheesy, cutsy, sitcom Halloween stuff as well. I'll list them for S&Gs, but I won't count them toward the main goal of "feature film viewing".

placeholder post.

I don't have enough time to get anywhere close to 100,and my list may not be as eclectic as some of the hard-core horror movie watchers but I'll post what I manage to watch anyway And no, I won't be counting commentaries or tv shows although I'll probably be watching both dracula (1931) and dracula - spanish (1931).

We're getting closer.....

I've bought a few horror sets the past week and are saving them for October. Every year around this time, I buy a crapload of horror titles. The studios usually unload with some great titles. Next Tuesday offers alot of great stuff.

The funny thing is, this is the first version I saw. It was recorded off WGN back in 1986 or so and what I watched for the first few years until I finally got the theatrical version. I had dubbed over the movie before I realized it was even a different cut. For years I thought I had gone crazy because I remembered a scene
Spoiler:
with Laurie and Jimmy in an ambulance
. Years later I found out what was going on with this. I'd just like to see this again simply because for several years this was the only version I knew.

Missing the gore/nudity doesn't bug me in this case because I can always watch that on the DVD at any time.

Well, that was a code provided by X back in June from this thread. It was recently bumped and confirmed that the code is still valid.

In addition, I'm a Netflix subscriber and just received an email yesterday for a 1 month 'Friends and Family' trial that expires on 10/5. If for some reason that code doesn't work, email me and I'll send the link to you since it would probably be considered a referral.

if anyone needs marathon ideas
do a tcm one prior to seeing the prequel oct 4 (for diehards, this will include, 1,2,3 next generation, and the remake)
a saw marathon prior to seeing pt 3
a friday the 13th marathon on friday the 13th
and a grudge marathon (includes both 1 and 2 japanese and american versions)

that gives 22 movies just in 4 or 5 days

I've been dying to watch some horror movies but have been denying myself until October 1st!

I have to work on September 30th until midnight, but around 1AM I will be starting my marathon! I'm not sure what I will start it with though...

Heh heh, I've been doing the same thing. I haven't watched a horror flick in nearly two weeks now.
