Holy crap, that's a hell of a sale. My credit card is going to hate me in the morning.

Tuesday's avalanche of horror titles will come in handy for the contest. I bought all of them except Frankenstein and have been patiently waiting to view them. I'm glad the first is only a few days away. I've probably bought around 50 horror titles in the last month. I could watch all of those to reach my goal of 50, but there's too many already in the collection that must be watched such as Halloween, The Fog, The Omen, The Hills Have Eyes, and a few others...I'm thinking of leading off with the new 2-discer of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Can't wait to see the improved transfer on that bad boy.

Oh, I know. That's just a huge list, and when the "sale" kicks in, it'll be huge!

This looks like fun. Don't know if I'll hit 100 with school and work taking up a lot of my time. Luckily, the work is at a video store.

I don't have a goal but I'm going to try to hit as many as possible.

I've always wanted to plow through the Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, and Friday the 13th films. I'm not nearly as well-versed in horror films as I want to be. This should help that though.

Can't wait 'til SUNDAY! SUNDAY!! SUNDAY!!!

I haven't decided what to start with. I know it's really no big deal, but it's fun to be all "ceremonial" about it and watch something special.

What are you all starting with?

Why, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre with its brand spankin' new 16x9 transfer. After that, I've got a huge stack of horror titles I've bought recently that are just dying to be watched. October will be fun.

Well, I'm a big horror guy, so I pretty much watch the stuff all year around. I haven't watched any in the last two weeks, so the wait is killing me! As for what I'm starting with, it's not much contest:

Dracula (1931)

Welp, just like last year's challenge, I'm expected to be out of town sometime during the first few weeks. So my chances of being the winner will be out the window again But (As I said last time) I ain't goin' down without a fight!

Some TV news:
I browsed through some of my TV-guide and caught what I expect to be a can't-miss documentary airing on the 13th on Starz!
Going to Pieces-Rise & Fall of Slasher Film

I'm not lobbying for Spike's SCREAM awards show to be included on our lists, but I'll be watching that anyway--If I'm back in time.

And as expected, the 31st will be a madhouse on what to watch. There's Mark & Mike of American Movie hosting Night of the Living Dead on G4 and the Sundance Channel will air a Jess Franco tripleheader.

I think I started off with that last year.

For some reason I never got around to viewing them last year, so that's what I'll be kicking off this year's with. In fact, I'll be viewing many of the supplements this week and finally reading "The Evil Dead Companion" in addition. Might watch "Hard Candy" that day as well since it arrived from Netflix...if I can fit it in.

The only other ones planned in advance are some F13 films on Friday the 13th and of course Halloween 1 & 2 on Halloween. Overall, it's going to be pretty much like last year in that I don't really have any set patterns on viewings. Usually I'll catch whatever recent orders arrive that day or what comes in from Netflix. If nothing new arrives I'll go to my DVD shelves and just randomly pick out some titles...a few of which will be some missed last year. If it has any sequels or prequels, I'll try and catch them in order if they're worthy of a viewing. That's basically my game plan.

BTW, "The FANGORIA Chainsaw Awards" will be televised for the first time:

I don't get the channel nor does it count...just a head's up.

I was gonna start with Friday the 13th, because for some reason I've been dying to watch that. But, I'm going to have to hold until October 13th since there is a Friday the 13th in October. I'm thinking either A Nightmare on Elm Street or Dracula / Frankenstein...

I'm late reserving my spot. I'll aim for 30 movies this year. I plan to start out with My Bloody Valentine, which I haven't seen since I was a kid and my parents strangely enough brought me in to see it! (???)

Would the OP mind if I use the rules template to start a challenge at another board I frequent?

It depends. If I have time to watch a movie with my wife before she goes to work, it'll probably be Stay Alive. If we don't have the chance to watch something together, I might start it off with Saw II.

I was wondering, should we post reviews/thoughts on the movies that we haven't seen? (also since the thread is a little long, should we create a new thread for actuall lists/reviews?)
