Any interest?
I just wish I'd have given out ratings the past couple of years of the challenge if only to see how certain titles have changed in my mind. For instance, I'd originally have given a film like "Suspiria" a 3/5 at best on the first viewing ..nowadays it would easily garner a 5/5 rating. And the fact that so many of them seem to change for the better or worse on subsequent viewings is probably the very reason I don't normally rate them. But yeah, I'll consider doing it this time.

Well, it's officially tomorrow (in most places) and the one week countdown begins:

The Star Wars Holiday Special should count as horror.

For new horror with a tinge of comedy coming out on DVD this October, be on the look out for Black Sheep, The Tripper, and Fido.

Count me in. I didnt have time to participate last year but I did the year before. it was fun. Don't know if I can make 100 but will try, but my actual goal. I'll be happy if I hit 31, might go over that.

I'm going to try and participate this year. I'll be starting a new job on the 8th so I'm not sure if that will create more or less time for horror viewing. I doubt I'll top last year's 57 as that really took up a lot of time and I'm the only one in my house who likes to watch horror anyway.

Very much looking forward to participating again this year. I won't be a top contender, but will set my own goal at 31 again. Hopeing to discover some more classics this year, along with revisiting some old favorites. I've been depriving myself of horror as much as possible the past few weeks. I'm just hopeing our theater still has ResEvil 3 playing after I get around to rewatching 1 and 2, which I haven't seen in quite a while.

Last year was lots of fun, looking forward to that again this year!

At my store if I have the Star Wars special, From Justin to Kelly or Glitter, they're included in the October Horror Sale.

Don't forget Gigli

Also, I know Planet Terror counts as horror for sure, but does Death Proof? It's kind of a serial killer slasher with cars instead of knives....

This looks like it will be my 3rd Halloween without Gigli in stock. I don't buy large auctions to re-stock anymore, and there's no way in hell I would take it (or From Justin to Kelly or Glitter) in trade. I'm not Game Stop, I won't take just anything that's put on the counter!

OK, don't know where I'll find the time, but screw it! I'm in! I went thru my horror movies and made 2 stacks: one is movies I haven't watched yet, the other is all time favs. It's around 75 total, let's see how many I can get thru. I know the first movie I'm going to watch is "Carrie" and the last one is "Halloween". What falls in between will be a grab-bag.

I think I can hit 100!! I have been buying some new horror just waiting for October to watch them. I will start the first one at exactly 12:01AM EST. I usually hit around 60 in October, but that was before hearing about this challenge, so if I put my mind to it!!! 2 years ago it was the standard stuff Halloween, F13, TCM, etc...last year it was obscure stuff, Horror of Spider Island, Funhouse, MBV, this year the gloves are off to reach the magic number!!!

Watch one film from every decade, starting with the 1920's (or the 1910's if you can find them).20s, 30s, 40s. 50s,
60s,Planet of the Vampires
70s,80s, 90s, 00,

Watch films in at least two languages other than English.

Watch a film and its remake.

watch a film which won an Academy Award -- any category.

Watch a film and at least two sequels.

Watch a film in each of the following horror subgenres:
--- Vampire
--- Werewolf
--- Ghost/haunting
--- Witchcraft/satanic/religious
-*- Zombie (Tales of Terror-"The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar")
-*- Slasher/psycho/homicidal maniac (The Burning)
--- Monster/creature feature

Watch a film starring:
--- Bela Lugosi
--- Lon Chaney (Sr. or Jr.)
--- Boris Karloff
-*- Vincent Price (Theatre of Blood)
--- Christopher Lee
--- Jamie Lee Curtis

Watch a film you've heard about but haven't seen (and report back in the discussion thread).

Oct 1 1.)The Hamiltons 2.) The Burning
Oct 2 3.) Twice Told Tales 3.)Tales of Terror
Oct 3 4.) Theatre of Blood 5.) Planet of the Vampires
Oct 4 5.) Cheerleader Massacre

Um, you may want to check the date on your calendar.

Saturday is the 29th. The marathon does not officially begin until Rocktober 1st, which is Monday.

I'm really looking forward to this. I threw my hat into the ring last year, but ended up not watching any Horror movies and basically forgetting about it. Not the case this year though! I already made a little calendar for what I'm going to watch. I have about 30 or so Horror DVDs that I haven't seen yet, so I've been wanting to get through them for awhile anyway. This works out great! I'm setting my sights on 31. Let's see what happens though.

I'm going by my no-rerun clause as in the last few years, but with one exception. In my '05 challenge, I watched the first volume of the Hellsing series, but didn't have the rest of them to complete the viewing. I was finally able to grab the rest of the collection earlier this year (And still haven't watched vol's 3 & 4) Now will definetly be the time to check 'em out, but I gotta re-watch part 1 to get refreshed.

But I'll be nice and count the series as just one number.
