Ok, well that's a little better. Now I don't quite hate it so much. I hope the Digital Copy isn't WMV only.

I just got the final specs from Warner - PC and iTunes friendly.

Cool. Now at least the DC won't be totally worthless.

Re: friday the 13th remake unrated dvd

Bump. Surprised noone has posted this yet.

Artwork for the new DVD's has been released.

http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releas...the-13th5.html

It sucks that there are 2 separate DVD's (Theatrical and Killer Cut) The Theatrical version DVD is barebones.

It also looks like the Killer Cut is only 9 minutes longer.

That sucks. I like the artwork minus the "Killer Cut" slash, but of course I want that version.

Re: friday the 13th remake unrated dvd

The extended version(Killer Cut) was submitted for a rating, and the only addition to the rating description is highlighted below.

Rated R for strong bloody violence, some graphic sexual content, nudity, language and drug material.

Agreed

SD artwork looks better than the BD artwork, IMO.

so wait, the killer cut contains the violence that was cut to avoid the NC-17 rating, but the MPAA decided (or reversed it's initial reaction) it was "R" the second go around ??

Yeah that's really weird both cuts were rated R....

Re: friday the 13th remake unrated dvd

actually that's sometimes the case with the MPAA, they have both their good and bad days, sometimes they let things slide, other's not. I know that the rating's process requires studios to resubmit their movie for a rating if and when a new cut of a film is submitted for approval [a studio just can't re-asign a movie's original rating for a more explicit cut, they also can't do this even if the footage is non-explicit in nature], of course some studios don't want to pony up the cash or time, so they just go with the traditional 'unrated' classification - knowing that the reinstated footage was what the MPAA originally found objectionable.

It seems very odd that was not already in the description of the theatrical rating, as there was plenty already there.....

Does anybody else think that the bluray artwork is crap compared to the regular dvd artwork?

Re: friday the 13th remake unrated dvd

i fully agree
even the back cover of the standard release is better than its blu-ray counterpart.
downside though, as already known, is that standard dvd buyers only get one film version rather than both and don`t get a sleeve!!
don`t know if i would call it equal justice, or that there is no perfect version!?
what`s certain to me however, is the fact that warner product developers should get their shit together!!

I don't give Fuck #1 about the cover art, slipsleeve or back cover... the Blu-ray is going to look and sound badass and that's why I'm buying it.

Suck it, justice!

I could care less about the artwork, I'm buying the best version....

Since the Blu-ray has a slip-cover, perhaps the artwork underneath behind the plastic in the case will be different (and maybe be the same as the DVDs)?
Usually slipcovers have the same artwork underneath, but sometimes it can differ, such as with THE DARK KNIGHT for example.....

Also "Yes,Man" another Warner title. I'm betting it will be.

Re: friday the 13th remake unrated dvd

I read on another forum about the length of the BR special features....
I guess the BBFC in the UK recently rated the special features for their release.

The re-birth of Jason Voorhees - 10 mins
Hacking back/slashing forward - 10 mins
The 7 best kills - 20 mins
Deleted scenes - 9 mins

That's not much at all but I'm not surprised either....

wow, those suck and SDVD gets even less. what a waste. i may, for the first time, just rent to quench appetite and wait for another release.

just curious, but why are you so hung up on slipcovers? i mean what is truly the big deal with them? i like em but if a release doesn't have it then, oh well. but you are just so fervent in your desires...

just a nice extra gimmick, that when done well, looks really good and adds some extra collectors value.
i like collecting them and its just much more for the eye than these cheap throw away amaray cases. just nice if the studios put a little extra effort into their product, but i guess we`ll be seing less and less on standard dvd, as studios are concentrating more and more on bluray and generally seem to get much cheaper in not even throwing in a sleeve.
just pissed me off extremely with the friday 13th release, because they really could have brought out a nice 2disc special edition with both film versions, extras and sleeve! really wouldn`t have hurt them to put in a little extra effort for this release. especially considering the great digipak release of the texas chainsaw massacre remake, which they even quote on this release!
i guess a digipak is nowadays too much to ask for (can`t think of one besides rambo for a long time), but at least throw on a sleeve!
i`m not even gonna pay 20 bucks for a basic amaray release that i can find for half the price weeks later. at least with first print sleeves, the people who desperately want them, are willing to pay full price on release day (i thought studios knew that by now!), but whats the incentive here??

Re: friday the 13th remake unrated dvd

received the disc via mail today. comes in one of those great eco-cases.
unfortunately the studios don`t have enough immagination to realize that
these cases are extra fragile during transport. my copy arrived with a big dent
in it, which also caused damage to the artwork.
perhaps i should also mention that the artwork has the paper thickness of a kleenex tissue!
personally i think the only reason for this eco case idea, is for the studios to make 0,3 cent extra profit
before the movie was released in theatres, the producer brad fuller gave several interviews claiming that there would be a 15 minute new and extra
storyline to the extended dvd. this is not the case.
it is one of the cheapest barebones releases i have seen lately, even the trailers are in poor quality.
the only thing positive which jumps to mind is that the transfer was actually very good, at least in terms of standard dvd releases.
