I read the review you linked to, and I know how most wrestlers do as actors, so I think I'll pass on buying it. Might be good for a laugh as a rental but doesn't sound like a keeper to me.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

About a month or two ago I bought "Wrestling With Shadows" from my local SAt. Matinee. Well last week I finally opened it up, and not only is it scratched to shit but both the Wrestling with Shadows & Life of Owen Hart dvd are DVD-R's with purple backs! Went to return it today, they didn't have anymore, the guy even said it was weird that they were dvd-r's, but since it was longer than a month ago and I had tossed the reciept they couldn't do anything for me.

Did I get royally screwed out of $20 by a net savvy dvd ripper? Or were all of these released as dvd-r's and I'm just a clueless fucker? I know stuff you get online like shoot interviews or guest booker series are dvd-rs, but they are advertised as them. This is not advertised as a dvd-r.

Any opinions & thoughts would be great.

Oh and I snagged the Morrison dvd for 14.96 at Walmart & Best of TNA 2009 for 14.99 at the same Sat. Matinee mentioned above and to the best of my knowledge neither are dvd-rs. +2 for me!

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

Both of my Wrestling With Shadows discs are of the pressed rather than burned variety (both silver on the data side). I bought mine maybe 4-5 months ago, from highspots.com if I remember correctly.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

I have the original Canadian version of Wrestling With Shadows and its obviously a real DVD. I purchased several years ago from a website out of Canada.

All the ones I have seen in the store where I work at have been DVD-Rs and were all loose in the case. Looked totally whack as it was just a label on a blank disc. Buyer beware.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

just to chime in on the Wrestling w/ Shadows dvds...my copies are both pressed (silver), not dvd-r. I have both the original single disc from the National Film Board of Canada and the Anniversary re-release 2 disc w/ owen tribute that was released early 2009. Oh and my VHS copy is an original too.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

My wife just picked up the John Morrison DVD for me since im home with a stomach virus and I gotta say this is one of the worst WWE DVDs on a superstar in a long time. This should have at lest gotten 2 disc. They could have included some Johnny Nitro stuff and maybe even his tough enough stuff. They really dropped the ball with this release and I hope it isnt a sign that all Superstar DVDs are gonna be 1 disc from now on

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

Is it just me or is anyone else having trouble accessing the digital copy on the Morrison dvd? Normally on these digital copy discs a window pops up to transfer to the hard drive....I am having no such luck. Cant find it through any of the file folders or menus via windows media player. the title info thru windows media states "[Includes Digital Copy]" and the FYE associate said this was the only upc in their system. usually with digital copies there is a separate disc for the digital copy as well, but all of the copies at FYE weighed the same and appear to have only one disc. Anyone have any ideas?

There is no Digital Copy for the Morrison DVD. The database that Windows Media gets it's info from must be outdated on the DVD.

According to the latest release from PWinsider it's still scheduled;

March 2: Royal Rumble 2010 (also on Blu Ray)
March 9: Shawn Michaels: My Journey
March 23: Elimination Chamber 2010
May 4: Wrestlemania 26

It might be only sold to some stores, I noticed Bestbuy.com and FYE.com have it listed in the US. But Amazon.com has it removed but Amazon.ca still has 2 versions for preorder (Canadian and US Import).

Guess we will see March 2.

A digital copy is on a separate disc with a one time use only code and has an expiry date of exactly 1 year of the release date.

That's what was confusing to me, I am aware of how the digital copies and codes work...so to only get a single disc and no code printed on the insert, I thought maybe there was an outside chance that it was imbedded on the regular disc thru the dvd's file folders, haha! wishful thinking i guess. :P

I guess the info is outdated and FYE never had their system updated w/o the 'digital copy' tag...it may have been planned at one time but then scrapped just like the blu-ray releases. Im a little peeved that I paid almost $10 more for it from FYE than at walmart, but i guess the consolation is I now have a poster of John Morrison...yes, much sarcasm there.

According to SilverVision, the blu-ray of Royal Rumble 2010 will be a two-disc set and the DVD will be a one-disc:

Features on the DVD:

Bret ‘Hit Man’ Hart confronts Mr. McMahon
Monday Night Raw – February 1, 2010
The blu-ray will include that feature, and disc 2 will include the RAW and SmackDown! the week before the rumble match:

Bonus Features
Includes both the Raw and SmackDown shows from the week before the Royal Rumble so you can see how events unfold leading up to the Pay Per View

RAW - January 25, 2010

DX vs. Legacy

MPV vs. Big Show

Legacy in the Locker Room

John Cena with RAW Special Guest Host Dule Hill

Divas Championship Tournament – Semi Final Match
Eve Torres vs. Maryse

Mr. McMahon’s announcement about Bret Hart

Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz

Carlito gives RAW Special Guest Host Dule Hill a tour

Kelly Kelly vs. Carlito

John Cena with RAW Special Guest Host Dule Hill in his office

Divas Championship Tournament – Semi Final Match
Gail Kim vs. Alicia Fox

John Cena vs. Sheamus

SMACKDOWN - January 29, 2010

Triple H vs. CM Punk

R-Truth vs. Chris Jericho

Josh Mathews interviews Batista

No Disqualification match for the Intercontinental Championship
John Morrison vs. Drew McIntyre

WWE Women’s Championship Match
Mickie James vs. Michelle McCool

Batista confronts Shawn Michaels

Rey Mysterio vs. Shawn Michaels
Now I REALLY hope the states get the blu-ray.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

Thanks for the info. Keeping my fingers crossed.

WWE (and TNA) should be putting every PPV on Blu ray. I used to buy all the ppv dvds, but stopped because they aren't in hi-def. They are losing my business by not doing blu.

I think it's just a strategic business decision, they probably know that most people won't get Wrestling (WWE or TNA) on Blu-ray at a $30+ price tag for every ppv, since majority of people don't even a Blu-ray player yet an HDTV and they could just get the DVD version for like $15. So they would lose tons of money on sales if that was the case.

Give it time before they religiously start to release on Blu-ray. I think for now it will only be Wrestlemania, maybe Royal Rumble 2010 this year if we're lucky but no other info has been given since WWEshop.com don't even have it preorder makes me think it got scrapped, but other US/Canadian sites still have it available.

Agreed. I don't have a blu-ray player or an HDTV. If every release were on blu-ray and $30, I'd be playing catch-up for years.

As for Royal Rumble on Blu-ray, this link on Amazon.com will confirm it is still getting released...but according to them the release date is May 4.

http://www.amazon.com/WWE-Royal-Rumb...6558870&sr=1-2

Same day as Wrestlemania 26.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

The plot thickens.........

I appreciate you doing all this legwork, sg2386. I was looking at the sites pretty frequently for a few weeks to see if it was still coming, but it got kind of annoying to me once the original Amazon US listing got pulled, so I stopped. At this point, I am confident enough that it is coming out either here or at the very least in Canada. Worst comes to worst, I will just order it from Amazon's Canadian site and have it shipped to me.
