Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII
I'll probably be receiving the new HBK DVD in the mail this week, should be a good watch by all accounts.
If HBK is to lose at Wrestlemania, I hope it's due to a Triple H heel turn and ideally that can setup at Mania 27. I know some people might think this match should end clean, but we had that last year, and I for one want another shock WM moment like we did at X-Seven.

I finally finished watching it, took me few days, and i enjoyed it. It certainly does gives lots of hints that Shawn Michaels wants to retire, wanting to spend more time with this family and watching his kids grow up. Wrestlemania could probably be his last match.
The DVD felt more like a tribute to him, especially the intro video.

Regardless, it should be a joy to watch and I for one know Shawn will end the streak at WrestleMania XXVI. Yes this match really really needs to end clean just like last year. 17-1.

Bought the HBK DVD at K-Mart for $10 - hopefully, they don't shut the coupon in the Bargains forum down because K-Mart's price (even normally) on WWE DVDs plus this coupon = epic WIN

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII
it makes sense to have him end the streak but i dont think it will happen, the streak is a huge draw and gets bigger every year, cena vs taker next year would draw huge, why would they end such a huge draw, hbk has nothing more to gain from the victory, and yes i hope it ends clean either way

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII
and applying a $5 reward zone certificate - it came to $16.19. Hopefully it comes in todays mail.
Wouldn't be worth the hassle to return it to Best Buy and then go to my nearest K-Mart (which is
out of my way) and get the Shawn Michaels DVD there just to save $5 or so. Too bad what was
the nearest K-Mart to me closed down a couple of years ago. It was right across the way from
my Best Buy store. We also had (and still have) a Target in the same plaza type set up - basically
did all my DVD shopping for the week all in one area - thats when K-Mart had good deals on DVDs.
Also wouldn't they just refund me the $16.19 price? thus I would lose the $5 rzc - so that wouldn't
be good thing. Besides, paying an extra $5 for what is being reviewed as a pretty good Shawn Michaels
DVD is worth it.
Great deal though! I'll let one of my friend know about the $10 off a $20 purchase at K-Mart coupon
and hopefully he will be able to purchase the Shawn Michaels DVD there himself - he passes that
K-Mart every day as he works nearby so hes not going out of his way. We have the Hart Family/WM26
DVDs coming out before the coupon expires so hopefully the sales price on those would be worth it to
go to K-Mart and I'll be able to take advantage of the coupon and use it on wrestling DVDs.
EDIT: Well thats if the coupon is still around by April 6 - which is when the Hart Family DVD is scheduled
to be released - unfortunately by the looks of some posts that are in some threads on here - the coupon
may not last passed today. Oh well!

HBK is not advertised for any matches or appearances after WM26 while Taker has several scheduled matches on the European tour (which always follows WM) and in the States as well. I wonder who will win.

They are both set for time off for the most part after the show. After last year, Taker did work some European dates til disappearing til Summerslam.

Perhaps Undertaker's new DVD will be to showcase his, then, ended career.
I just have a feeling maybe both of them will retire after this match. Still I say 17-1.

uh... the WWE does this ALL the time. Like on a monthly basis. Totally reasonable to believe that the WWE would spoil it.

Well, Taker does not have a "retirement" stipulation so he could conceivably lose and still wrestle in Europe or anywhere.
As far as the HBK DVD, it's excellent, although he says "you know" A LOT to the point of distraction for me.

Maybe it's just me but I think the Austin heel turn made for some great TV. He might not have got instant heat in Texas but he certainly did soon after, didn't he? Not to mention it gave a whole new dimension to Stone Cold as far as entertainment/comedy/acting in my opinion.
Whether they regret doing that angle or not, that doesn't explain why the whole event is never talked of on TV around Mania time. It's the event many regard as the best ever! I just don't understand it

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII
Just finished the HBK DVD. It was bittersweet and tough for me watching the last segment of the DVD in which he talks about his future and what's next for him. Im not going to completly spoil what he said but let's just say he is definetly ready to step away.
Im as big a Shawn Michaels mark you will find. I completly understand that he can't wrestle forever and that he needs to be with his children. But I can't help but to be selfish inside and want him to keep going at least a few more years. I think he still has a few more years of performing at a top level. Although even if he retired 5 years from now it would be difficult for me personally.
Wrestling won't be the same for me once I know Shawn Michaels has wrestled his final match and there are no more classics and there are no more promos. I feel as though when Shawn's career fades into the sunset so will my time as a lifelong, die-hard wrestling fan. There is nothing else anymore keeping me drawn in outside of HBK. When he left with his back injury in 1998 I still was a young excited fan and I loved to watch Austin, The Rock, Undertaker, Foley, DX and the whole "Attitude Era". It sucked big time that my favorite wrestler was out but I still was interested enough in everything else to grow even more as a fan. Watching the "Monday Night Wars" conclude was also very cool and seeing new incredible talent come in like, Guerrero, Benoit, Jericho, Angle, Lesnar, Edge & Christian (grow) and others was more than enough to hold me over even though my all-time favorite wasn't around. Plus I just knew Shawn Michaels would wrestle again. I was anticipating his in-ring return the whole 4 years he was gone and It was such a joy and a high to see his comeback. And to see him return full-time was way more than I could ever ask for.
It just won't be the same this time around when Shawn leaves for good. I'll know he won't be coming back. It just makes me sad as a Michaels mark and even more so as a wrestling/WWE mark. I just can't see myself watching on a regular basis due to losing interest. I'll still show interest in some of those names I mentioned that are still around but It will steadily decline. I'll always be a wrestling fan but it looks like soon I'll stop watching on TV each and every week, attending events and buying DVDs regularly.
However I still believe in 17-1 and that unfortuantly won't make an HBK DVD because we have probably now seen the last one... By the way the DVD set itself was all around awesome and I definetly recommend it. The match selection is great considering all the mtches weren't on his previous DVDs but the real great thing about it is all the insight we get from Shawn Michaels on everything from the matches to his career to his personal life. It's a must have if you ask me of course.

Anyway, I will bet you a copy of Takers new DVD that he beats HBK @ WM26 and retires him.

i fear hhh will run in, i cant see taker losing his streak nor hbk lossing clean twice in a row
shawn has said he would like to come back maybe from time to time, so i think he will eventually come back for atleast 1 or 2 matches, probably hhh/hbk at mania 27
imo i hope this does not happen, i hope if he retires he stays, ric flair has tarnished his career alot due to keep coming back, i hope its a clean finish and if hbk loses he stays retired, or if he wins he can have a farewall speech on raw the next night and leave for a while and opens up to come back for either hhh/hbk at wm27 or hbk/taker the rubber match

TNA is in desperate need of help right now...after reading about that grbage of a PPV they put on last night, serious changes need to be made and quick. Get rid of Hogan, Bischoff, Russon and Dixie and bring wrestling back to its roots once again. Return to Thursday nights live and produce a product people can be excited about once again. Why they decided to go head-to-head against WWE especially during WM time is beyond me.

I'm enjoying TNA right now...
I hadn't watched any wrestling since Wrestlemania 20.....but with Hogan on TNA, and Bret Hart back for a little while on Raw, it brought this old school fan back to his screen....I'll probably dump WWF (never WWE to me!) after next week though, as I have no love for Batista/Orton/Cena/etc....sure was great seeing Stone Cold last Monday night though!
