Watched Suspiria for the first time yesterday. In fact, it was my first Argento film, although I had been somewhat familiar with some of his style from the European Cut of Dawn of the Dead. I didn't have any preconcieved notions and didn't really know what to expect and I quite liked it. I had held off getting it for the longest time because I thought it was completely done in Italian and couldn't find a release with the Italian track and subtitles. I finally realized that it was dubbed, on purpose, in English anyways as the cast was from just about everywhere. Kind of like what they did with the Sergio Leone westerns.
It was quite creepy throughout most of the movie and I love that 70's look it had to it. The lighting and visual style of the movie was fantastic. The music was also quite out there, but in a good way. The combination of the two made for a unique movie viewing experience.
I thought I read somewhere that there was a remix done of the music. Can someone give me a little more information on that? I own the Blue Underground R1 DVD release, FYI.

The remix of the main theme was done by Claudio Simonetti a member of the band Goblin that scored Suspiria. His other band did it, I only have it on the soundtrack that came with the 3-disc anchor bay release. I don't have my iPod handy to let you know more details on it.

So of course my Netflix DVD of The Blob 1988 is cracked. I managed to pull it up on Crackle, which has great quality if you don't mind a Saw 3D commercial popping up every 20 minutes. You can watch it here.
I dare someone to watch them all on the 13th.

that's a hell of an idea...and i have the 13th off too. i doubt i could do them all but maybe i could get 5 or 6 of them done and finish the rest thurs and fri night. i think i might just go for it.

Watching Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy (2010) and believe the hype, the documentary is a lot of fun. I wasn't planning on staying up this late but there's a lot of good material in this film and it's pretty fast paced. At 4 hours the feature is epic but probably the most fun I've had this challenge so far.
I'm doing the same, I've watched 1 and 2....now 10 more to go...and the His Name was Jason documentary...

Just watched La Horde, a kickass French zombie film that has cops and gangsters allied to survive the zombie apocalypse. It starts off as a gritty urban crime film with crooked cops fumbling an attack on a drug gang, and then it gets zombielicious! The only problem I had with it is they're fast zombies instead of proper shambling undead, but it's still a great ride.

Finally got around to watching Rob Zombie's Halloween II. Absolute shit.
Zombie has a cool visual style, but the screenplay is a mess. Brad Dourif is usually a dependable actor, but he was cringeworthy in this. And Laurie was so irritating I wanted to take a steak knife to her myself. Bad acting, bad story.
Ugh.

With all the praise for Never Sleep Again, looks like I need to re-visit the NOES box set and have a Freddy-thon. Usually I only watch the original, skip the sequels and go straight to New Nightmare.
I've been looking for a good French flick and that will do nicely.

All this talk of short's has my interest pique. After doing some google searching I can't really find a good resource. I don't want to just sludge through crap on youtube so does anyone have a good place to start? Any websites or best of lists?

I love all of the Freddy and Jason sequals. They're really fun and get straight to what we love about the characters. I'm surprised so many don't watch them. They really are fantastic stuff.
I'd be watching Never Sleep Agaain this challenge if it counted as two movies. But I'll wait until November.

Followed the final Reds game of 2010 (that NLDS should comprise my Wild Card list) by going to bed and watching The Terror. A young Jack Nicholson plays a French soldier in 1806 separated from his regiment. He stumbles into a mess where Boris Karloff has been dwelling in a decaying castle with just his servant and is now being haunted by his dead wife.
It was alright; Nicholson seems like he's acting through a pain treatment program the entire time; very tenuous and wooden, like he just wanted to get through his scenes and back into a chair. The A/V quality wasn't particularly great, either. Puttin' this one in my Average list.

I just took a break from watching a few short films to put on Orphan... I already know the twist so maybe it won't be as bad as I expect it to be since the nonsense won't be a surprise haha.
The 3 shorts I've watched so far are Judith, Treevenge and Elevated which are all worth checking out. I need about 45 more minutes of shorts to have enough viewing time for the entry.

I had forgotten about the mythical Hellraiser: Bloodline alternative cut. There seems to be some alternative footage on youtube but I'm not sure if I want to check them out in highly pixelated blurry mode. Curses to copyright law.

I still liked the theatrical version better than the 3rd one but as much as I hated that one, I hate Inferno so much more.

Every year I think I'm going to research the least number of titles required to complete the checklist, but never make the effort. I think I did it one year in 35 items, but that was without real planning, so it could be less. Although the checklist is different this year of course.....

Also, I wanted to share with you guys that I was inspired by our back-and-forth about The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to write a User Showcase blog for Flickchart about the topic in which I contrast my experience with that movie and my experience with Casablanca. You can read it here if you're so inclined. For those who don't care, but may be at least amused by the photo that Nathan Chase doctored for the article, I thought I'd share it here. I personally adore it, and think it's his cleverest work yet:
