You don't. You had to buy HD discs way back in good old 2006.

It's too late for you, sorry. You had to buy 3 or more HD titles in 2006 and Amazon would then give you 10% off of all of your HD purchases in 2007.

Cool, thanks for posting this. I was just going to get Ratatouille and wait on Cars, but this made it a no-brainer to get both.

Good find! Just a little more info on this from Amazon's BD page:

Save $10 When You Buy Ratatouille and Other Pixar Favorites on Blu-ray.
More fun for the entire family: Buy both Ratatouille and either Cars or Pixar Short Films Collection on Blu-ray and save an additional $10 off your total purchase.

I could've sworn it was cheaper. I think they raised the price on it.

Browsing through Amazon...Independence Day (Blu-ray) for $23.95. Man on Fire is still unfortunately $4 more.

Thanks...but VERY "meh." Spidey3 is included in every new PS3 now, right?

I'm thinking about trying to use the Kmart 20% off coupon to get a 40gb next week for $320....obviously there are plenty of different opinions, but how long do you think it might be until there is a $300 PS3?

Why would you buy a gaming system which doesnt have alot of PS3 games available and wont play old PS2 games? Seems like shooting yourself in the foot if you are going to play video games on it. Thats the reason why I will either buy a 60GB or the new 80 GB model. I wonder how many of these 40 GB models are going to get returned when people find out that they can play PS2 games on them. I bet there will be lots of open box specials after Christmas

While I understand where you're coming from, he may be buying it for a BD player. In that case, he wants to get it for less since it's just as capable in the movie playback department as the more expensive systems. As for games, some people just don't play that many, so the limited library of the PS3 boxed and downloadable games may suffice. If he ever gets the urge to play PS2 games, he can just buy a $99 PS2 and end up spending the same.

I own a ps3 and 0 ps2 games, plenty to play. My library consists of:

Resistance
GRAW2
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
F1
Motorstorm
Call Of Duty 4
Enchanted Arms
Virtua Fighter 5
Mortal Kombat 2 online.

I dont know about you, but thats PLENTY of excellent gaming with more on the way like Uncharted, Unreal 3 and more i havent picked up yet like Heavenly Sword, Ratchet And Clank, The Eye Of Judgement, Tekken 5 DR 1080p Online, etc. Really, people who say that there are no games are going overboard in their rants, IMO.

Lets not even forget Final Fantasy 13 (both of them), Metal Gear Solid, Killzone 2, God Of War 3, Wipeout HD, 2 different SOCOM games and a LOT more are on their way. Its silly to say the PS3 has no games, it has quite the selection and a lot more on the way.

Because I don't care about the games. I'm just looking for a good BD player. HOWEVER if best buy is gonna give me a free game I'm more than happy to take it and use/sell it. Beats any other PS3 deal I've seen...

What is this 20% off coupon you speak of?

Sorry, yeah, I have a PS2 that works just fine, and would be buying it mainly for the Blu-Ray player. I've got a 360 already, but I would get some games for the PS3 - mostly system exclusives. If they released a controller like the 360's, I'd probably get non-multiplayer games for the PS3 as well, since I hate the unreliability of the 360 (and achievements, while neat, aren't a big deal to me).

But like I said, the BRD player is the main reason I'd get it NOW. In the future I may be more interested in the games.

Is the 60gb down to $400 as well, or did they leave it at $500?

Still on the fence as to whether I want to spend $320 on one...more price drops imminent with the HD DVD players down? Or are they going to hold steady for a while? (I know, it's all opinion.....)

Apparently in the pharmacy at Kmart there is a flyer with coupons in it, one of which is 20% off anything.

Isnt the Sony 300 supposed to be the same price this holiday season? If I wasnt going to to do any gaming with it (I wont do tons) I would much rather have something that a works with an IR universal remote, has 5.1 analog audio outs (my processor doesnt have HDMI switching or inputs) to get the best sound and looks like a regular piece of gear in a rack.

Be careful, I havent seen the coupon, but most stores exclude gaming systems and certain brands for these coupons due to margins.

Maybe Kmart is eating the 20% off though.

Yes. One of the big electronics chains, which I won't name, has a Sony BD player as a Black Friday special for $399.99. I think that the model number is the 300 but the ad scan isn't clear enough to be sure.
