Gangs of New York has been released and I've read a couple of reviews that say the transfer is very good. I'd sure like to pick this, but still I can't get a definitive answer about the regional coding on this disc. Anybody 100% sure yet?

Hasn't Zodiac been indefinitely postponed though?

Yes, I believe that there will be a new date shortly. Keep an eye here for the Swedish release which should be substantially cheaper that the Danish one:

A small update: according to DEVEDENAUTE.fr The Science of Sleep will offer English subtitles for the main feature. I will have to confirm once the disc arrives (10/17)

I try not to get excited about everything I see in this thread because of the region coding issue. It's a shame.

Sorry for being pessimistic, but devedenaute.fr usually take their specs from dvdfr.com, not 100% reliable.
The SD edition will have french subs only.

I am sorry as well that you and I will have to disagree this time but...you are wrong. Devedenaute took their info straight from Gaumont's main site which DOES indeed indicate English subs for the main feature (I posted on another forum as well but can not remember where...maybe Classik) :

Wow, not trying to format bash here b/c I am planning on getting a PS3 when/if they drop the price again, but how does this not drive people crazy? The fact that movies you may really want are available in high-def, but inaccessible would drive me crazy. (Of course one could buy a region-coded player for each region, but not sure many people want to/will do that). So, on that note, is there any effort being made (below ground I suppose) or any news about region hacking any blu-ray players?

Gaumont mentioned about their SD edition :
Sous-titrage : Français , Anglais
http://www.gaumont.fr/DVD/fiche_dvd.cfm?id_dvd=21
But this screen shows :

I have to say the dialogs are mostly in english, if you choose original audio.

Tutut:

The disc may well turn out to be with French subs only but the current info on the site pertains to the Blu-Ray release. In the left column the info they have supplied points the following facts:

Theatrical release (Sortie salle) August 16 2006
SDVD 2007
Genre-Comedie/Fantastique

...and this portion here (at least as far as I am concerned)

Sous-titrage : Français , Anglais
Zone All
Format image : Film en Haute Définition 1920x1080p
Son : Audio non compressé LPCM
Durée : 105 minutes

...definitely refers to the Blu-Ray version. It is right beneath it. I just don't see why they would list subtitles next to coding info and the 1920/1080 bit if the info above wasn't intended for the upcoming BR release.

Let's just wait and see, perhaps the disc will offer English subs. If the listing was a mistake on their part then we will know for sure.

Has Tartan revealed any further details about the now-delayed Seventh Seal released?

I have not been able to discover anything about either the BD or the SD release (other than it's "digitally remastered" and I'm not exactly sure what that might mean,) and I'm not sure if I've missed anything.

well, it includes a copy of the standard R2 PAL DVD in the package, so I'm guessing you'll have all the special features on that and not on the BD. That said, the only confirmed specs for either the BD or the DVD (both of which have been pushed back to 3rd December) is that they include both Swedish and English dub tracks and that "they're working on a number of "exciting avenues for extras" to accompany the new transfer on this release".

Yeah, ASD was released alongside the HD-DVD, and one was one of my first BD purchases. I don't think Constantine has thus far been available on BD, tho.

Hmmm.. I wonder if this release will be worthwhile. I wonder what kind of access Tartan has to the SF materials that would (presumably) be required to create a truly definitive HD presentation.
