Well, you'd be guessing wrong. Did you actually read the press release or are just spouting fanboy stuff out (as if you should be complaining about BD fanboys)?

And just like that, Fox drops the hammer! Let's hear ramped up lineups from Disney and Sony next. Boo-ya!

So I see no Commando or Predator. And I just ordered the new steelbook Robocop, and here's the Robocop announcement. Damned if you do...

Still, I will be getting at least 75% of those Fox/MGM titles. I want Cast Away so bad....

That press release was 20 freakin' paragraphs long. I did go back a few minutes ago and saw that there was going to be some special features on a few titles.

It's going to be an interesting Christmas with the top 4 movies of the year (Spider-Man 3, Shrek 3, Transformers, & POTC: AWE) split 2 by 2 into the BR/HD-DVD camps. Although it only ranks 3rd here in terms of BO, wasn't Transformers considered the most liked of these four movies? It didn't have the massive plunges in BO that the other three did.

To quote Optimus Prime: "One shall stand, one shall fall!"

I want to hear some Miramax announcements. And Sony, announce the Almodovar BD box set.

You're misinterpreting that statement. What it's really saying is that Paramount won't be releasing Spielberg-directed titles on either format.

According to AICN, Spielberg titles will be released on both (rather than not being released at all). That softens the blow a bit for sure, and might even nudge Universal closer to nuetrality...

If that's what AICN is claiming, the truth is sure to be the opposite.

LOL, where did you see "a few" or is that your speculation again, like bad discs and no features? I actually see:

the vast majority of the Studios' upcoming global slate will be
presented on 50 GB dual-layer discs with advanced BD-J interactivity and feature
numerous Blu-ray exclusive high-definition bonus materials that further realizes
BD's incredible potential. Consumers will enjoy the superior video and audio
elements of AVC encoding and Lossless HD audio on many of the coming titles as
well as enhanced and integrated menus, personal scene selections, search
indexing, trivia and other title specific games and high-definition bonus
materials.
Nice try, though

They announce Robocop just as it's on it's way from Amazon. Thanks, Fox. The only other Fox title I want there is Master & Commander.

at Bill Hunt. What a clown.

This is good news for me since I'm a hd supporter. Exclusives are a bitch though. Greed is gonna kill high def discs.

Let me be the first to say that I am shocked and never expected this. From a financial standpoint, I think this is great news because I'm sure they got a good deal to go exclusive. From a business standpoint, I don't know if it was a good or bad move.

I think this is great news if you're an HD-DVD supporter because it will keep the format around longer and more likely indefinitely.

Of course, the opposite is true for BD supporters because you're going to have to buy an HD-DVD player. I would hold off on this if I were you and only buy a dual format player. Because this seals the deal on the success of dual format players. By next year, everyone will have bought a dual format player for under $500 bucks. Neither format will dominate, unless a another studio like Warner goes exclusive to BD, mark my words on this.

And for people who are worried that MSVOD is going to take over, I wouldn't worry about it. Until everyone has a fiber connection, physical formats will not die. I do worry that Microsoft may have done this to confuse things, but they are really stupid to think that people don't like physical formats.

Personally, I already have an add-on and a PS3. Now I will wait until next year to buy a dual format player because there is no denying that two formats are here to stay.

As for me, I'm still an SD luddite. I am leaning HD over BR because I hate region coding with a passion. Also, I'm the proud owner of a $1,300 combo player that plays SACD and DVD-Audio in glorious hi-rez 5.1 surround sound......with few titles available to enjoy in either format.

How about we just wait until all the individual specifications are listed.
I honestly don't care about this announcement as the only movie on that list that I would have interest in is the first Die-Hard.

Um, so why'd you bring the (erroneous) point up in the first place? You don't have BD.

This thread tells me otherwise.

I think everybody here just wants to protect their investments. Sometimes it gets a little rowdy.

if i have to buy a hd-dvd player, i'm not gonna get the inferior X360 add-on... i'm surprised that the add-on is even qualified to be called a hd-dvd player.

I almost ordered a PS3 last week, but I'm glad I didn't. As of now I'm definatly going to be waiting another year before jumping on the HD bandwagon (unless of course, Buffy/Angel is released in widescreen, lol)

All Fox did was say 'Hey, were still important!' and announce titles that we should have already had in our hands months ago. The Paramount news is huge, the Fox news has been expected for a long time. Had Fox announced these titles last week it wouldn't have been as big of a deal as some of the Blu-Ray boys are saying.
