Neither do I.

WB will either make a choice or not. Period. I don't see any other studio from any other side going anywhere right now.

However, I do believe some CEs will either start making Dual Players or HD DVD stand alones. That is something I do think might happen at CES.

Yep, it's just like what my dad said - there's always a 50% chance of rain; either it will rain or it won't.

I also want to know why everyone is so fixed on CES. What were the major announcements this past CES in January?

A really big flat panel TV, if I recall.

Meanwhile, I hope more CE's do start making dual format players. To me, that's one of the best ways to sidestep this format war. I plan on picking up one of the Sammys when they go down in price, just as a backup player.

I think dual-format players are the path to laserdisc/SACD status. Not that something like laserdisc status would be a complete failure, just that HDM will never overtake DVD (on new releases, overall might already be out of the question).

Anyone hear the Blu Ray site got hacked last week and redirected to the HD-DVD site? I don't condone stuff like that, but it is pretty funny.

Why would dual-format players be like SACD or laserdisc? I don't think dual format players will significantly lengthen the format war, but I think they will assuage people's fears about getting into HDM. Even without dual format players, HDM won't overtake DVD. And people like me, who are already dual format, can buy without worrying that one day our player of the losing format will break down and we can't fix it or get a decent replacement.

I just saw on HighDefDigest that they're letting people vote on the cover for Baron Munchausen: http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...y_Box_Art/1299

You have until December 27th. Personally I like the first choice, but I'm not surprised the third one is winning because it looks hand-drawn. I don't like the colors on that one as much though.

I like choice three the best, but the first one isn't bad either. The second one looks like typically photochopped crap.

This was reported in Baron Muchausen thread, 3 looks like the obvious winner but I doubt we'll see it as the final art.

It's not one of Gilliam's best IMO, but still worth having on HDM.

If you really want a laugh, go to the Digital Bits and read the post he made condemning the action...his "outrage" and venom spewed at HD DVD over what was probably the work of just one or two jokers who wanted to have themselves a chuckle had me rolling....
I do look forward to my new player in my next box of Coco Puffs though!

I'm not that fluent in english, but he said about you:

Question for anyone who has 2001, looking at the comparisons given on that site and I don't know how accurate those screens are but to me it doesn't look like much of an upgrade. It actually looks worse. Please tell me that's not how 2001 looks as all reviewers have been giving it a 5 star video rating which is contradictory to what's shown below.

Take a look here for the screenshots: http://hd-discs.mbmg.de/2001_1080ibr...-vs-hd/01.html (Warning Large Files)

^ Hmm, somewhat disappointing. The broadcast was EXCELLENT!! I havent watched my copy yet. The detail looks better in the broadcast pictures, but the colors look better in the Bluray pics. I guess its not surprising since VC-1 smooths the picture some. That looks like alot though!

Hidalgo, Unbreakable, and Coyote Ugly from Disney ---> April 1st

Might have to finally rewatch Unbreakable. Still, Disney needs to get off their ass and put Pulp Fiction on Blu-ray. I mean, if Coyote Ugly can come out...

At least watch it once before you buy it on Blu-Ray!
