Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
I think the point is that quadrilogy isn't a real word. Whoever came up with that, cut the t off of trilogy, and added quad, which makes no sense. The correct equivalent would be more like quadogy, which I don't think is a real word either. Tetralogy I believe is the proper term, but I prefer Anthology to all of them anyway.

I learned something new today
Agreed.

Day 1 purchase for me. I'm extremely excited for this, EXCEPT FOR:
"reinvigorated for an intense Blu-ray high-definition viewing experience"
I don't like the sound of that at all.

I'm so nervous that Fox will fuck this up with DNR just like Predator. For that reason alone they have lost my pre-order and instead I'll wait for reviews. Please, Fox don't screw over these films, especially the first two.

I'm very curious about this deleted scene - Deleted Scene: Burke Cocooned
Also, Charles de Lauzirika posted this comment on his Facebook page on just who was involved in putting this set together.
"Associate producer Jon Mefford and editor David Crowther are a couple of Quadrilogy vets who returned for the Anthology. Mike Matessino, who worked on the LD and the first DVD, came back to put together the isolated music tracks under the supervision of Nick Redman. But it was mostly a new team. Associate producer Joan Malloch and ... See Moreproduction coordinator Sung Chae worked with me on the supplements. There was a huge collaboration on the interactive side of things with Troy Benjamin, Adam Vadnais, Dorthe Baker, Raleigh Stewart, Amy Searles and the Trailer Park team. And some fans helped out too, like Willie Goldman, Harry Harris and Andrew David Clark. Not to mention everyone at Deluxe, Lowry, THX, Fox and other companies who contributed. A massive undertaking indeed."

Can't believe we're finally going to get to see the deleted Burke cacoon scene! And the uncut Alien 3 doc...definitely can't wait for that, either.
Something I'm wondering, though. I've read the specs on a few different sites now, and see no mention of the new Weaver commentaries that we heard about a while back.
Also, I wish they'd split the commentaries for Aliens up. I'd love to hear the whole Paxton, Henrikson, Goldstein, and Biehn one. The few parts we got to hear them talk were hilarious.

Per The Digital Bits, this fell through, as they couldn't find time in Weaver's schedule to do the recording.

You're not crazy. The famous cocoon deleted scene is from Alien. Ripley comes across Dallas, who IIRC, begs her to kill him. This sounds like Burke from Aliens (Paul Reiser), which is interesting since Cameron was the one who came up with the Alien Queen, so I'm not sure why he felt the need to shoot a cocoon scene.

That's what I was thinking. That it was Dallas. Cuz I remember that being inserted into Alien. I don't ever know how to feel about it. It just...it's interesting but I'm glad it wasn't in cuz....it didn't make sense. It's never really established why the Alien did that in that scene. I think Dallas just says to kill him, Ripley does so.

Speaking of Lowry Digital, I just browsed their website and came across this piece of information on another Jim Cameron film:

Lowry Digital previously applied their image processing and enhancement to a number of Cameron's projects, including Aliens of the Deep, Last Mysteries of the Titanic, and the high-definition releases of Aliens of the Deep and True Lies.

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
There's been a couple of stills of the Burke cocoon scene floating around the net for years. Here's one:
Interesting that both Cameron and Ridley Scott shot cocoon scenes that take place near the end of the movie and both wisely cut them out as it would've destroyed the pace. Then both went back and destroyed the pace anyways with Scott's fake "director's cut" (which reinserted the cocoon scene) and Cameron's director's cut (which takes a bunch of deleted scenes that should have stayed deleted and makes the movie feel overbloated as hell).

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th
Is Burke being cocooned to turn him into an egg, as is the case with Dallas in Alien, or is he just being hung up so a facehugger can get to him? The latter makes more sense to me.
And I definitely prefer the director's cut of Aliens, and the theatrical cut of Alien.

I have a feeling it's for the facehuggers. The queen can lay as many eggs as she wants, but without a host for the facehuggers, there wont be any adult xenomorphs.

I don't remember the exact lines, but according to the script, Burke says something to Ripley along the lines of "I can feel it moving around inside of me"; Ripley takes pity and hands him a grenade to off himself.
