That's odd. I had the "get this the day of release" message on the screen when I ordered it, but the delivery date showed up as Thursday. They just shipped mine and changed the delivery date to Tuesday.

It's really a question of where they ship it from and where you live. I have a Amazon plant a few hours from my home but they don't always ship certain blu-rays from that one I guess ....

They did this to me with last week's releases too. Even though you order separately and click to get it the date of release, they wait and send them all together... at your expense.

Yea, I've noticed similiar. I'm starting to order one thing at a time to reduce damage anyway. I used to order a lot of titles and they would shrinkwrap them down to prevent damage. Now they just throw them in the box. I return stuff if the slipcovers are damaged.

I have mine in my grubby little hands as I type and I must say that the packaging is the most excellent presentation for a film I have ever seen. It's just like a book with each film garnering its own pages and artwork. Excellent excellent set!

They shouldn't offer a "ship separately to get things faster" button if they won't honor it.

Right now I have Fale 3 and Alien on order... both supposed to be here tomorrow with release date delivery. Neither has shipped and it's 6:15 on the east coast.

I stopped in Best Buy after work and they decided to put their sets out. I counted 7. Others have reported to spot these early. This store didn't have them out on Friday.

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

Just opened my set. It's definitely a very classy design. The only drawback, FOR ME, is the discs being inside sleeves. They're not the easiest to remove, but that's probably a good thing. But the bonus discs are definitely more snug, so be careful when removing those. I was happy to see only Alien 3 had finger prints. With box sets, I expect half the discs to be covered with those. But only 1 disc out of 6 is great and they wiped off. I have Alien loaded up...

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

I just know that some B & M's will put that "spider" anti-theft device on this and crush the sides of the packaging. Really hate when this is done.

I'm tempted to pick this up Tuesday, but I may hold off after the price drop that I saw on the Quad set. This new set just screams "Black Friday" to me....

Same here. I seldom order from Amazon anymore because of their awful shipping. For the past three or four years, almost anything I order will just be tossed loose into a box.

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

I only had time to sample some of Alien last night and it looks stunning. Just a great looking transfer.

Here is blu-ray.com's review of the set:

It may not affect this set. The outer box is extremely solid and sturdy. For a BD release, it's definitely one of the heavier packages.

I got my egg set today via UPS. I think it looks better than I expected. I also didn't know it was produced by Sideshow and was numbered.

I have faint regrets I didn't buy the egg, but whatever.

Re: Alien Anthology - Oct. 26th

Well mine was 'out for delivery' via UPS but then it got scanned again as 'arrival scan'. guess I won;t be getting it until tommorow.

Of course, last week UPS delivered my package to the local post office ...

Yeah, well...I jumped ahead a few billion years and it turns out Eddie Izzard is the most popular comedian in the universe!

I'm watching Alien now. Looks absolutely gorgeous, and the bass when the ship lands on the planet is unbelievable. I can't wait to check out the newly fixed-up workprint of Alien 3.

I'm enjoying this "Unbound" feature which lets you bypass all the logos at the beginning of a disc if you're switching discs in the set.
