re: Star Wars
I'm in for the complete set. While I'm not a big fan of the changes to the originals, I can live with them. And while I enjoyed ep 3 I was most likely only going to buy the original trilogy, but the 3 bonus discs swayed me.

re: Star Wars
Nah, I have never owned a copy of the prequels on any format and only owned the first versions of the special editions on VHS when they were released for a bout 2 hours before selling them. I think I can hold off a bit longer. I don't even own a blu-ray player but if Lucas had announced release of the OT in their original form I would be at the store buying one instead of sitting here on the computer.

I can't even bring myself to hope that the extra three discs in the 9 disc set might be the original versions (forcing folks to buy the prequels to get them...)
I've barely even watched the DVD set I bought way back in 2004, much less the VHS and LD copies of the original versions I own. As much as I've loved the story of the Skywalkers since I was a wee lad in the late 70's, time has tempered my enthusiasm.
I'll wait for more info to decide whether or not I should get more excited or not about these.

re: Star Wars
Sounds good, and I have no real doubts that I will get it, but I'm going to wait to hear about the special features before I decide. Having the complete saga in HD is not a priority for me. The special features will be the factor that sells this.

I can live without this. I've never been all that big of a Star Wars fan to begin with and the only way I'd really be interested in getting them is if the originals were released. My DVD trilogy from 2004 is enough for me (even if its not the trilogy in its original form). I still think Lucas is an idiot for not realizing the potential for releasing both the original trilogy and the special edition trilogy as there are legions of fans who would have to have both. It would satisfy the original fans as well as the hardcore nerds who have to have everything Star Wars that is released.

Is it possible for someone to add a poll to this thread - which version(s) will you be buying (or not buying at all)? It would be interesting to see if anyone is buying only the PT. I suppose a true collector will buy all two copies of all three sets - one each to open and one each to keep in mint condition .
Also, there will be further changes to the OT. On the Forcecast podcast last year, they were interviewing the Skywalker sound guys who were working on updating Ben's Krayt Dragon call for a future release - so either the blu or 3-D version. The new Krayt Dragon call sounded pretty bad...I don't know what was so bad about the original.

I also pre-ordered, just for the price. I don't mind the SE of Empire, and I liked Revenge of the Sith and portions of Attack of the Clones. For Star Wars and Jedi I'd probably just watch the unaltered DVDs. And I'll probably never watch TPM again.

I remember the omission of Luke's screaming like a little girl from leaping into the void after Vader's revelation was also an issue.

What they better fix from the 2004 editions is Sansweet's tinkering with Williams' score during the Death Star attack. I remember the epic fanfare drowned out for louder "pew-pews" of the X-Wings. Unacceptable.
