re: Star Wars

I'm tired of George's tinkering, but I'll still be buying these. At least they fixed a few things like the music in the trench run...

re: Star Wars

I just got around to cancelling my amazon pre-order.

Reason: Other.
Explanation: George Lucas is a douche.

I will likely be picking them up in the future. However, I won't pay more than $30 for this set.

Another thing the NO change does is piss on the fantastic musical tension there. Tension is building and building, and then bam, you get the Force theme and right there is the release and Vader finally redeems himself. You don't need cobbled together dialogue to tell us what imagery and music already tell us.

I'm serious. Does anyone have a thought on this?

That was always one of my favorite uses of the Force theme, too.

Um, yeah. My thought is that if you want to do it, you should do it. And if you don't really want to do it, then...don't.

It dawned on me earlier that I still want the Star Trek movie Blu-ray boxes. I missed out on the sales Amazon ran in the last month on each of those, but I'm hopeful maybe they'll run them again at those prices (or lower) for Black Friday. So, yeah, Star Wars has been seriously downgraded on my To Get list. In fact, I'm about to unsubscribe from this thread and just get away from all of this for a while. It's been a (mostly) fun debate even if we haven't really covered anything new, though I do thank those of you who shared links to comprehensive articles, interviews, etc. about the history of the series. There was a lot of neat stuff in those and I enjoyed reading them.

I don't think canceled pre-orders mean shit. Total sales numbers is all that matters.

I'm fairly certain that the sound of thousands of pre-orders being extinguished all at once will be felt by someone.

Nope.

Part of the reason I'm cancelling is because I realized that after all these changes, every time I want to watch the movies I'll just pull out the unaltered 'bonus' DVDs anyway.

It's sort of a waste of money if I'm never going to watch them.

re: Star Wars

I just want to make sure that the change in Jedi is not a practical joke??? Does Vader really say NOOO when he throws the Emperor down the shoot?

Jedi was the weakest of the OT to begin with, but Lucas continues to fuck that movie up even more. Geez, with the new Jedi Rocks and addition to Hayden as a force ghost, the movie is slowly moving towards Prequel quality at this point.

Proud to say my house will remain Star Wars Saga Blu-Ray Free for a very long time (unless the Unaltered OT is released......which will never happen).

You're more than welcome to pop by anytime in the future to check.

re: Star Wars

I don't see what's the big deal about the "No....NOOOOOOO!" Just mute the sound when scene occurs. So simple.

Exactly. ROTJ is my least favorite, but it had a few scenes that served as powerful moments for the entire trilogy. Somehow, Lucas has managed to ruin practically every one of those - now making this movie utterly unwatchable. I would say the only thing left is Luke's initial dialogue with his father on Endor, where Vader resists Luke's plea to return to the good side. Wonder what CGI marvel Lucas will add to that scene in the next release?

Thats a ringing endorsement to the final climatic scene that sums up either the Star Wars Trilogy or Star Wars Saga (depending on your perspective):

Mute it!

I just picked up some nice copies for $9 the other day. Lucas will have to pry them from my dead cold hands.[/QUOTE]

I think I actually still have this somewhere...and even a VCR. Now if I can just remember how to operate it...

re: Star Wars

I canceled my preorder and left a one star review at about three o'clock. There were 130 or so one star reviews. Now I see it's up to 160. The rating is at 3 stars. I realize it probably won't end up making a difference, but it's at least sending a message.

Oh yeah, then I'll go back and rate it 3 stars! Then neither one of us will be happy!

Yeah, a message that you could fit everybody leaving 1-star reviews into the smaller conference room at the Holiday Inn.
