This is true. It isn't right, though.

I pre-ordered this set too but I cancelled when I realized the bonus features didn't do enough to justify it over my 2004 SE DVDs since I knew the UOT wasn't going to be there. The additional changes just solidifies my resolve.

It has begun.

Thanks for that. I like that Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) even spoke out about this farce.

Among the angered fans is Simon Pegg, the “Shaun of the Dead” star and geek-culture icon, who wrote on his Twitter account that he always “loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice” and called the change a “clueless revision.”

re: Star Wars

My star wars "no" analysis...

Episode 1: Obi-Wan's "Noooo" = Good
Episode 2: Qui-Gon's "Noooo" = terrible, bad dub, doesn't sound like Qui-Gon, garbage...
Episode 3: Anakin's "Noooo" = Good
Episode 3: Darth Vader's "Noooooooooo" = Embarassing
Episode 4: Luke's "Noo!" = Good
Episode 5: Luke's "Nooooooooooooooo (breathe) nooooooooooooooooo" = Say what you will, but I dig it.
Episode 6: Luke's "Never/No/Nyah!!! scream" = Epic, awesome, friggin' amazing...
Episode 6: Vader's new "Noo. Noooooooo" = picard facepalm

Definitely not. Some choice tweets from her in the past.

To Her:
@KRLgrrl Hey Katie, has your dad ever expressed to you why he persists on the Greedo-Han controversy even though he knows fans hate it?
Her Response:
@James_Faupel well Han never shot first. He doesn't persist on anything, its the fans that insist on keeping the debate alive.
You heard it here, Han never shot first.

@Zack_Parks @VideoETA haters gonna hate. And then haters are going to buy the bluray set and keep complaining.

P.S. This girl needs a life. It was hard to find those tweets because she tweets literally around 50 times a day.

EDIT:
Welp, I see the news that it was confirmed. Today during my lunch break I will be cancelling my preorder and then tweeting at Lucasfilm that I have done so.

Oh well, I guess I can put that $90 to use elsewhere. It would have been so awesome to have the Star Wars movies on BR, though.

Cool!

When did Amazon ever advertise that these would be unmodified?

re: Star Wars

Well, balls. I'm still looking forward to seeing what's been done to the prequels and I'd opt for just the prequel box at this point, except for those damn bonus discs... Gonna just put this on hold pending a really attractive sale. In any event, the Jurassic Park box set is now my most desired new release. It's just as well, 'cause my plan of buying Star Wars with Amazon credit redeemed with my Swagbucks was gonna take forever anyway.

You're aware it's way more than just the "noooo" right?

Believe it, because it has already happened on my end. I put up with the changes through the years and didn't mind most of them. But this is the straw that has broken the dewback's back.

And it's not that I want to "stick it" to George by not buying this set. I really don't care and I'm sure he doesn't either. I just don't want to own this set because a lot of these changes really don't make the movies enjoyable anymore, plain and simple. It's like a fan was randomly changing things just as a pointless experiment, and I'm just done with it. If anyone does want to buy them, good for them and I hope they enjoy watching them.

It's one of the few dramatic moments that Lucas actually got perfectly right on the first go. There was absolutely no need for it, and it's really a straw that broke the camel's back kind of thing.

I was only cautiously optimistic for these Blu's ever since they were announced, since I was fairly certain that the originals wouldn't be included and that there would be even further changes. But now knowing the actual content of these changes, I'm just aghast.

The Noooo is very clearly a middle finger to fans who didn't like the Noooo in Revenge of the Sith. It shows Lucas' contempt for the fans.

re: Star Wars

I still say Lucas is doing this shit just to make the originals more sought after when he finally releases them in ten years. Dude's crazy like a fox. He knows us losers will still buy this crap even though we're not happy about it and will be so pissed we'll buy the originals later. He's just giving us more motivation to buy the originals later.

After the Blu-rays, after 3d, and after the 3d Blu-rays, we'll get the originals on Blu right before the format dies. Lucas knows exactly what he's doing.

re: Star Wars

Except this thread alone shows there's already a declining return on his meddlings.

I agree he plans to at some point, but it's a stretch of you to come in here and say "we". "We" ain't doin' shit.

For the 3D releases he should have the Ewoks all speak in English but in a French accent.
