Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2013 Blu-ray releases

YES! Wow, this is probably the best "upcoming slate" announcement I've seen in a while. 2 out of the 3 (Robin Hood and Oliver and Co.) are my favorites from childhood and Sword in the Stone is one I came around to a bit later, but think is fantastic.

I know people tend to shit on the 70s-80s films, but I love them. Robin Hood is still my favorite Disney film (a lot of nostalgia working there, but still) and Oliver and Co. manages to remain a beloved film even after I've grown up into a Billy Joel hating adult. It is the only thing he is involved with that I can stomach.

Quick question, how long does it usually take for titles to become available as enrollment titles for the Disney Blu-ray Club? I've never had a membership (used to cycle CH memberships back when I bought more DVDs). With all these titles coming out this summer, it would probably be a lot cheaper to go the Club route for me.

To become "officially" availabe as enrollments, typically it takes in the neighborhood of 6 months, but if you phone in your order instead of placing it online, many people have had success asking for titles that aren't officially available as enrollments.

It varies on the title. I've seen some titles show up after a month or two and yet Winnie the Pooh has been out for a year and a half and is still not available on the website. However, if you call, you might be able to get titles that aren't on the enrollment site. It all depends on who you talk to as some are more accommodating than others.

DMC has Lilo & Stitch and Emperor's New Groove as the double feature selection this month. $29.95 each or you can get both combo packs for $29.95... decisions decisions lol

Is it weird that it looks like no stores are carrying this last batch of animated Disneys (Stitch & Groove), and if they do, it's only one or two copies?

Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2013 Blu-ray releases

Found all 3 at my local Target yesterday. They seemed to have about 3 each, but only one Lilo and Stitch. That one had a $6 coupon on it that you could use if you bought L & S and either Atlantis or Emperor.

Best Buy and Walmart had nothing.

Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2013 Blu-ray releases

I found all three at target the week of the release but didn't want to spend money on all three at once. Usually I sell the standard DVD's and then use that $$ to buy the Blu-ray versions, but I slacked this time. So far I have purchased a used copy of Atlantis, but I have not received it yet. But I'm hoping to get the slip cover and DMR code. As for the next batch, Sword in the Stone and Robin Hood will have to be immediate buys on the day of release!

Does anyone know if Sword In The Stone and Robin Hood come with the new Digital Copy Plus codes (Vudu/Amazon/iTunes)? Or is it the old iTunes digital copy disc?

can't speak about Walmart, but Best Buy's selection of most anything bluray/DVD related has gone down the toilet.

Has anyone heard if there will be a steelbook for Little Mermaid? Best Buy has this listed for $5 (Boxed Set) with the same release date ... I wondered if this might be the steelbook

Zavvi in the UK has a Steelbook:

The Best Buy listing says "(Boxed Set) (DVD)."

I see that, but it seemed unusual that the price was $5

Certainly looks like it could be a steelbook pre-order placeholder to me.

Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2013 Blu-ray releases

well for 5 bucks it sure as shit isn't the 2 DTV sequels, so chances are it's an LE pre-order bonus of some sort that COULD be a steelbook.

Totally agree with the terrible The Little Mermaid cover art, but I htink it may have something to do with how that movie changed the Disney name at the time.

Best Buy had a lunch box for The Muppets (seen here). So that may be possible.

Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2013 Blu-ray releases

FYI, it looks like Sleeping Beauty is getting a double Blu-ray dip as the Fall 2014 Diamond Edition title, and Aladdin gets pushed back yet again.

http://www.therotoscopers.com/2013/0...for-fall-2014/

Some rumors have the remainder of the Diamond Edition line going like this:

101 Dalmatians - Spring 2015
Aladdin - Fall 2015
Pinocchio - Spring 2016

Feeling better than ever about importing that UK Steelbook for Aladdin.

Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2013 Blu-ray releases

It seems folks are upset over minor changes in the new BD release of The Little Mermaid. Others seem to think the changes are either negligible or for the better.

I actually think the new master looks great.

I agree. 2013 version looks better. I like the color-timing changes and the edits.

Looks good to me. The older one looks oversaturated. However the grass during the carriage scene looked more vibrant in the 2006 version.

Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2013 Blu-ray releases

In hindsight, the only issue I have is that edit with Flounder. It didn't really bug me when I first saw it but supposedly Disney acknowledged it was actually a mistake during the remastering process and they have no intention of fixing it. Of course, that could simply be BS made up by an upset fan.
