That's usually my trigger point, but even after that, you will see the price go lower and lower, particularly during various one-day/flash sales. Anyone remember Alien Anthology? My only concern would be if it were a limited release, like a SteelBook, but that's not the case here.
i hardly think a set like this, so intricate, will be mass produced.

After the first couple runs the studio most likely will drop the barrel packaging and repackage it. I doubt it'll be scarce any time soon though, maybe after a year or so.

Yea, you're probably right, but I still think there will be an opportunity to score it for $150 or less before the spring.

If you are a packaging fetishist, I say go for it! While cool, it is bulky, and I really don't need an LPH apron. Maybe the complete series in a repackaged, standard-sized edition is the way to go.

I've never seen the show, but I'm standing in line for a buddy for this event tomorrow.

Re: Breaking Bad -- The Complete Series -- 11/26/13

I usually hate gimmicky packaging (that MoS set looks like an eyesore to me, and I went out of my way to get the version of Wizard of Oz that wasn't in the huge box with the extra physical stuff that I knew I'd never look at), but damn it, it's Breaking Bad. And I never bought the single seasons because I knew this was coming.

Now, if the physical extras were the ONLY new thing, I would just get the seasons. But since it has the documentary and the retailer exclusive features, I'm fine with paying the extra cash.

Oh man, I would love to go to this. I have a feeling you're going to have to get there really early because it says wrist bands are limited and I'm sure way more people will show up than they can accommodate.

The other issue is B & N will sell out of complete series before all with wristbands get a shot. He asked me to get there at 8 am when line starts, but I'm going to get there an hour earlier... I get to leave at 4 when he's off work.

Your "perfect place" for a set this expensive is a rack in your closet?

Yeah... That's not exactly a good storage rack for it either.

At first glance, I thought you had somehow managed to balance the MoS set on one of the little rungs. Didn't see the stand.

ARGH, I forgot I ordered this stupid overpriced thing, and Amazon already shipped it and UPS delivered it and sped off before I could refuse it. Now I have to mail it back because it doesn't even fit in an Amazon Locker.

I'm going to pass on this I think. I'm not going to rewatch it this year anyway, so I'll probably just pick up any eventually regular packaging full series set.

Saw this thing in person at BB, and it's even more ridiculous* than I thought it would be.
It is enormous, especially for a relatively short 5 season show.

*"ridiculous" for me. If you like this sort of thing, have fun with it!

Re: Breaking Bad -- The Complete Series -- 11/26/13

i am in awe of this set. it is so well put together and has a great heft that makes it feel much less than cheap. nice heavy grade plastic. everything comes out easy, but inserts firm. can't wait to dig into it.

Here's my copy:

This thing is gorgeous and so well put together. I'm watching the documentary now, it's 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Press down on the center tab, turn the lid upside down, and the disc slides onto the finger depressing the tab.

If you're not buying the full set, you need to find a way to view the documentary on it. It's an absolute must-see.
