Well actually tidbits is the bowdlerised version - it was originally titbits but then the Yanks decided it was a bit rude and toned it down (just like arse relates to bottoms, ass to donkeys)...

I just purchased the r3 HK edition of T3 and the DTS track sounds AMAZING!!!! Not only that the picture quality is excellent, and would imagine it would be the same encode as the r1. If anyone could do a comparison that would be great.

Dean, that's what I created this thread for in the first place! After virtually defining "off topic" it would be nice if this thread actually provided some comparitive info.

I received my R3 this week too. From another forum it appears that the R1 has the layer change in exactly the same place - at the cemetery, when the Doctor is talking to the Claire Danes character. This seems to back up the likelihood that the discs are inherently the same except for the soundtrack differences.

I looked at both r1 and r3 discs(direct A-B), and yes the transfers are identical, from the layer change to the bitrate. Only difference is the film opens with Columbia logo instead of Warner on r3. The R1 DD track sounds exellent, but the R3 DTS track sounds even better, specially in regards to the lowend and resolution.

hmm I was not that impressed with the transfer at all
even though several review sites mentioned that it's close to reference quality

I have the R3 ver and I watched it on my 42" WHDTV

I definately noticed edge enhancement in several scenes
and overall the picture felt too soft at a couple of spots
and some of the CGI stuff looked a little wierd( don't remember if it looked the same in theatres)

I hope they do an Ultimated edition like T2 with a better transfer

the DTS track was pretty decent but not mind blowing
I just watched R3 of HERO last night and that's some mind blowing DTS

Hero's soundtrack is great, but in no way does it sound better than T3.

T3 must have one helluva soundtrack then, cuz Hero has one of the best DTS tracks I've ever heard.

I finally received the Region 3 T3 today and while the DTS track isn't quite on par with Hero(then again, what is?), it still sounded incredible. The crane chase is definitely one of my favorite new demo scenes.
