I just came back from a Coconuts and the clerk told me the $5.00 rebate for the Star Wars preorder was only good for the old version of Predator. It's still cheaper $14.99 than other B&Ms but I was wondering if anyone else besides db27 had any luck with this deal?

the clerk even pointed it out to me. The CSR has to manually adjust the price from $14.99 to $9.99. Nowhere on the form does it say which version of Predator it is. If you're near the store, ask a different CSR and if they don't allow it, speak to a manager and they'll probably do the deal for you.

I preordered Kill Bill v. 2 last week, I only got a $5 rebate form when I bought it today and the guy looked at me like I was retarded when I asked about the Sonny Chiba DVD. He started reading off features from the back of the Kill Bill case and said it must've been exclusive to wherever I saw it online. I'm not one to really make a fuss over $5 and a cheap budget DVD, just I wasn't blown away by volume 2, so I would've just waited to pick it up cheap used in a month or two.

I preordered KB 2 last week, picked it up today and received the "presale $10 rebate form".

All is well but if this keeps up FYE will lose my business.

I got it for $10 with the $5 preorder for Star Wars (which I plan on getting back eventually, since the clerk said it was refundable).

okay, guess I'm retarded but what is this post regarding. I'm very confused...

maybe I posted something somewhere in a drunken state!

Star Wars has a $15 MIR

Predator (new version) has free movie ticket and NO rebate but is priced nicely at $14.99 although I believe that will change soon as I think it's a mistake.

I anticipate that the preorders shall get bigger rebates in the future, they are trying to entice more people to preorder. Why you ask? Cuz 50% of the preorders never get picked up which means $$$$ in the pocket free of charge for Transworld.

I can't imagine why people wouldn't pick stuff up, but they do it all the time.

The rebate form I got says Kill Bill Vol. 2 Rebate at the top but then has a box to check next to Kill Bill Vol. 2 and then boxes for Vol. 1 and pulp fiction etc. on it and says $15 rebate for purchase of Vol. 2 and one of the following titles. Is this the correct form for the $10 rebate or not? I did not get any of the other titles that it lists, the price for Pulp Fiction was crazy. If need be I will run in and get the correct one but don't want to cause a fuss if it is not needed.

When I picked up my Kill Bill vol 2 she gave me the $5 rebate and I pointed out that it should be 10 so she re-rang me up and only charged me 9.99+tax (+5 preorder deposit) so I could send the $5 rebate, hopefully all works out correctly w/ the return and recharge and all that stuf on the receipt.

looks like they gave you the wrong one.

should have other rebates such as Prince and Me, Johnson Family Vacation on it.

with 3 rebate pads, I'm not surprised of the screw ups as associates are generally not all that concerned about accuracy.

db27 - Looking at my post again I can see how it didn't make much sense.

I was basically referring to the 5.00 rebate offered on select dvds when you preorder Star Wars. Predator was one of the DVDs listed. I had trouble getting the 5.00 discount at the Coconuts by my work with one sales clerk. However, I later visited another store near my house and I was able to get the 5.00 rebate on Predator CE with my SW pre-order.

dabaomb - thanks for posting these deals every week. Coconuts is becoming my new favorite B&M for new releases.

I agree with db27, they gave you the wrong slip. The "preorder kill bill 2 $10 rebate" slip only has that movie on it, no other dvd's are listed.

Just an FYI to people trying to do this Gameboy deal:
Game Boy Advance: $69.99 + Tax - $30 MIR but you have to buy a game $14.99 or higher;

The deal is it is $69.99 after the rebate but since you have to purchase a game it is a little bit higher than that + 14.99 or more

yeah, the coupon is non-specific and should be allowed for either version of the movie. i hate holier than thou sales clerks, they wouldn't last a minute with me.

I received an email confirmation for Badder Santa on 7/7/04. I checked the link again today and it said:
Status: Reward Fulfilled
Check Issue Date: 08-10-2004

It looks like they are mailing these now. If you did not get a confirmation, they may have spelled your name, email, or address wrong. I could not find anything on the web page for Kill Bill Vol. 1 because they spelled my last name wrong, but I eventually received the rebate.

Yeah. this is the same clerk that didn't give me a 2nd receipt to send in for The Last Samurai rebate. No worries. I'll just take my future business to the Coconuts by my house.

I actually received mine a couple of weeks ago. Not sure about the notification, though, since I get so many and none have any indication what DVD it is.

Looks like from now on I'll have to pre-order if I'll continue to buy from them... which I likely will.

I'm still waiting for my Butterfly Effect $10 rebate. Is there a number I could call to check on it?

My Strawberries finally got the Sonny Chiba disks in and gave me a call to pick it up. Apparently, lots of stores didn't get them on time. In addition, no problem with the Star Wars Preorder/Predator CE deal.

I asked the Strawberries Manager about people not picking up preoreders and he said he has dozens over the last year that people just won't come pick up. He's more than reasonable. If a person is late picking up the preorder and the rebate has expired, he deducts it from the price.

He had not heard that there was a different $10 rebate form for Kill Bill 2 preorders.

New FYE deal $7 MIRs on Barbershop 2 and/or Secret Window, good through 9/1/04. I think this replaces the Tupac and 50 First Dates deal, don't know what the pre-rebate price is, saw a rebate form near the cash register and grabbed it.

Also, I saw a sign that said if you spend $25 at Wet Seal(clothing for sluts, basically...), you can get $5 off The Prince & Me at FYE. Although I think if you were dating someone who shops at Wet Seal, you probably wouldn't be spending a lot of your spare time watching DVDs, especially ones featuring Julia Stiles. I would guess that the coupon is probably combinable with the rebate, but not knowing any sluts(unfortunately!), I can't confirm this.

I did the Predator SE/Star Wars preorder deal today no problem, as I will probably have to see AVP no matter how horrible it is(current rottentomatoes score 13%!). With the discount and ClubFYE card(Boston area stores only,www.fye.com/clubfye), it was 9.24 with no tax today due to sales tax holiday. Thanks for the headsup db27, and if the movie sucks, well my local 18 plex has some other stuff playing and you can get lost in those places and wander into the wrong door...

new deals to look out for folks, there are now coupons for $5 off any dvd with purchase of Hidalgo. also some coupon for the same deal but you have to buy one of several childrens dvds on the list (halloween related I think)

these SHOULD be near the registers in the next couple of days, assuming the mgr at the store isn't an idiot (seems however that many of them are!!)
