I'm glad to hear the positive reviews from those seen the film. I'm jealous of y'all. This is really the only movie - I'm looking forward to seeing at the theatres this summer. The rest I can hold out til dvd.

Ebert and Roeper reviewed this on their show tonight. Not only did they both give it Thumbs Up, but they raved about the film.

Ebert (who did not like the first film) said it was possibly the best superhero movie he's ever seen.

I've never read any of the Spiderman comic books and only saw the first movie once, so I'm far from an expert. I got a quick question though...in the comic books did anyone ever find out that Peter Parker was Spiderman, like MJ, Harry, or any of the villians?? I'm wondering if anyone finds out for Spiderman 2 or future sequels.

I think it would be cool if a villian knows who Parker is for longer than the Goblin did in the first movie. Like most of the movie they are plotting, while Peter doesn't know they know.

And wouldnt Peter Parker fighting sans the costume be pretty cool?

Yes, several rivals did. Venom was probably the most notable of these and later on MJ, who became his wife, found out. I really don't know if Harry did in the comics or not.

I just finished watching it. They both raved so much about Spidey 2 that I was starting to think that maybe Sony offered free blowjobs to critics during the film.

David Manning is real! I swear!

Otherwise I can't wait for Spiderman 2. I completely agree with Ebert on the first Spiderman, so his ravings on the sequel have me very excited.

Ebert and Roeper also raved about DAREDEVIL, so their opinions on this genre are a little suspect.

I don't believe Ebert liked any of the BATMAN films, but he did enjoy SWAMP THING. That tells me something.

However, I'm old enough to remember when he and Gene Siskel sung their praises over SUPERMAN II (which went neck and neck against RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK for most popular film that year). Those were the days when Summer blockbusters really meant something.

Yeah and back in my day we had pie instead of movies. Anyways I cant vouch for reviewers but this movei easily beats the living crap out of DareDevil in terms of comic book movies. Id even go as far as to say it isnt even in the same leauge.

How are other critics reacting? AICN and these two guys aren't enough to really get me that amped.

Just got back from a screening. Since others have posted alot about it, I'll just say... damn what a fine piece of work. I haven't really decided yet, but this could be the best superhero movie I have ever seen. Superman I comes close. Raimi is a god

There is another potential villain in this movie for Spider-man 3

Spoiler:
In the comics, John Jameson becomes Man-Wolf. With Peter getting his girl, he also has a motive for revenge.

I saw this tonight, by the way. It's awesome.

Or a disaster in the worst way. I wouldn't mind them giving some cameos to certain vllains, but they have to play it safe. Two would be okay and fit logically into the storyline, but...

Spoiler:
Man-wolf is a little obscure and would actually seem rather thrown in at the last minute IMO. Lizard would be more logical with the new Goblin as the mastermind.
