I've always been curious ...according to the guide to the marvel universe... if Spidey can lift in the neighborhood of 10 tons...not out of the question in the movie, since
why would his
. I know this has always been the case. Though I find it funny that for all the nitpicking many fans do..this doesn't seem to come up. I imagine the dose of radiation received causes some sort of cellular mutation which gives the villains proportionately denser musculature and skeletal structure more able to withstand the super-pummeling that is dished out( this applies to any villain who is not a mutant or mutated).

Just to let you know, the dyslexia comment was aimed at the numerous spelling errors in your post, not your ignorance of the Spidey comic.

he's only asked once where spiderman went to and that is indeed by the neighbor kid

So Spider-man 2 made $180,056,000 in the past 6 days since it was open.
If it can gather another $20,000,000 tomorrow or within 3 more days, it'll break another record in reaching the $200,000,000 mark the fastest.
Come on, Spidey Fans let's do it!!

The reason I was laughin' was that she was so dam skinny and imho ugly. I thought that that's why others were laughin' too but I guess maybe it was just me.

Great flick. Just got back from seeing it (was going to wait until later), but have heard great reviews from friends. Really liked it better than the second one...though some of the "swinging" scenes were still kinda CGI-ish, the arms of Dr. Octopus looked quite real throughout the entire movie.
I was also moved at times, like when he saved the train, or when MJ finally discovered his identity.
I didn't understand the whole deal with the girl who lived across the way (his landlord's daughter?). What was the whole point of that chocolate-cake-and-milk thing? Was she supposed to help him discover his true feelings for MJ? Will she be a later character/villain/superhero? (Same goes for that little girl in the burning building...what was up with her helping Spidey up?)
And they'd better not make Harry just become another Green Goblin...I don't want to see a Spiderman 3 where they could potentially show unused footage from the first film!
Definitely my favorite movie of the summer, though!

I saw it again on Monday afternoon, and the theater was populated pretty well for a Monday holiday afternoon. Perhaps the Monday projections for around $25 million weren't all that far off.
I did spot the John Jameson "man-wolf" leap when he goes to MJ at the end of the film. And that was a dark green bowtie that Harry was sporting at MJ's near wedding. He's going to be on the juice for the next film, that's my take on it.
I'm pretty sure Robby knows Peter is Spider-Man, and Aunt May all but spelled it out for Peter that she knows how important he really is.
I still think that cake scene with the Ursula (landlord's skinny daughter) is all about having your cake and eating it too.

I still think the various girls being "attentive" to Peter was meant to show him he does have people who care. Especially other girls. Throughout the movie Peter was either having nice girls pay attention to him or he was noticing other girls around him.

Hey, all
I just read this:
"Tobey Maguire, reportedly left the "Spider-Man 2" set with a very special souvenir, his own Spider-Man suit from the film."
LOL.. now he can go save people on the streets of L.A. in his spare time away from acting.. hehe..
But I suggest he should practice first before he dons his suit.. just like in the movie... "Oh, my back.. my back!".. hehe

I was just watching Oprah yesterday, don't ask why, and they ad the cast on and he specifically told Oprah he never got a suit. She went into this whole thing that they had to get him a suit, especially the first one worn, blah blah and Tobey said he didn't have as much clout as Oprah blah blah.

Sitting here at work, I was productive and read through this whole thread.
I agree with a handful of things and disagree with many more. But I do hope for a return of the Green Goblin next time, and only the Goblin (not Hobgoblin!).
The perfect ending for the film would be a take off of the comic (it's been so long since I've read it, or any Spidey comic for that matter, so forgive the fuzzy memories), where they take Harry into custody after a few issue battle (both physically and mentally) between the two of them, and Harry proclaiming he knows who Spider-Man is, but won't tell .. yet.
Dr. Connors was also mentioned in the first movie as firing Peter for always being late.
One other point I loved that wasn't mentioned here yet was the name Dr. Strange already being taken.
All in all, it was a great, great movie! (minus annoying kids surrounding us at the theatre)

Saw it twice this weekend. I thought it was great. It never ceases to amaze the amount of nitpicking that is done here at Talk.
I thought 2 was a total improvement. The CGI was much better. The villan was more complex and looked great and was acted wonderfully. The story was compelling and I found myself misting up. The train scene..NY is pretty big who will know PP? It was more about how people can care. The cake scene...same thing, someone cares about Pete, someone can help him even in a small way. Some of the same things that were mentioned kind of made me say, "Now does that make sense?" but I got what was intended by the scene and moved on. Overall it was wonderful.
Does anyone know of a definative site that gives the mythology and bios of the Spidey-verse? The Marvel site seems to be lacking. No info on Hobgoblin (I know he's not Harry) or Wolf-Man(?).

The theme of this movie is that it isn't -- he has a network (or web

The scene with the people on the train finding out who Spidey is felt a little too impactful for me. IMO, they can't do any future plotlines involving Spidey trying to hide his identity anymore. Too many people already know who he is. And a lot of people recognize Peter as the guy who takes Spidey's pics, so it isn't like nobody on the train would recognize him again. Kinda felt like Raimi was trying to break the superhero rules just to get a shocking moment. I think the scene might have had more impact if they kept the mask on and someone actually suggested taking of the mask to see who he was, but the rest of the train refusing because they respect him too much.
Great movie, but after getting home and thinking about it, the whole train reveal scene kinda bothered me.

I really agree on the train scene. I've thought over it for a few days, as well as reading over this thred, but it is still bothering me. Somehow, it just seemed out of place - and those two kids walking out of nowhere going "we won't tell anybody. look what we found." just seemed too planted...ehh. I do undertand how the scene supported the film and all, but it still could have been handled differently.

let me pick up today's L.A. Times..
Oh look, a dodgers picture by Robert Caplin! Surely I know what Robert Caplin looks like.. or for that matter ever cared since his name is soooo damn small in print on the paper.
We already figured out that the only one who related or asked peter about spidey and the pictures randomly on the street was the neighbor kid who spends a lot of time with aunt may. Now which proud parent figure doesn't yap their head off about the offsprings achievements, Especially after the subject matter saved their life? Other then J.J. and the staff at the daily B. It's not like Peter is billboarded as the one and only source of these pictures. All the industry knows is that he's the best at capturing spidey on film.
As other have stated the secret identity has been in the comics for years and years before it was revealed to someone. All that has to be compacted into a 2 hour film.
Not to mention if they didn't get his mask off people would say that it wasn't as emotionaly because you couldn't tell what reaction or look peter had on his face behind the mask. You needed to get that thing off to get some range of acting out of toby to show pain, shock and relief.
