He's not scared, he just doesn't enjoy horror. He's mostly into war movies (went to see Dunkirk together).

I find the psychology behind horror movies kind of fascinating. All the other genres of film are meant to evoke positive emotions, more or less (an argument can be made against movies with tragic endings), but horror purposefully sets out to bring out negative feelings of fear, which some people cannot handle.
Now, I've probably seen too many and have been de-sensitized to fear, so I think of horror movies like a roller coaster. A great one can get the heart pumping and adrenaline flowing, but is considered fun once it ends, rather than scary.
