Never got to the theater to see this. Was hoping to take my youngling but they stopped the 2d showings pretty quickly and I realized I'd rather start him with the originals on laserdisc or VHS.

Those are some very talented artists. Better than anything Weird Al could come up with. I've never seen anything this good as far as making fun of pop culture since MAD MAGAZINE or LIVING COLOR.

1. It's for a niche audience (Those of us who care that much about what Lucas has done to Star Wars, and would get all those references, are a vocal minority, like it or not).
2. Nobody watches music videos anymore, because they aren't on. I've heard that Gotye song a million times but I've never seen the video before. Thus I really didn't get the video concept until I went back and looked for the Gotye video, and I think it's fair to say there are many others like me.
Like Weird Al or not, he's had huge success, and his career has outlasted the majority of the artists he's parodied.

Star Wars Episodes II and III to be Released in 3D Back-to-Back in 2013
Lucasfilm announced today that Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith will be released theatrically in 3D back-to-back on September 20, 2013 and October 11, 2013, respectively.
"Attack of the Clones" will be going up against Ron Howard's Rush with Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl, while Paul Greengrass's Captain Phillips starring Tom Hanks is scheduled on the same date as "Revenge of the Sith."
"Attack of the Clones" will also be battling for 3D screens against The Little Mermaid 3D, opening a week earlier, and "Revenge of the Sith" will be in a similar situation with Sin City: A Dame to Kill For presumably opening in 3D theaters a week before.
Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace was released in 3D on February 10. Re-released by Fox, the 3D version earned $43.5 million domestically and $59.3 million internationally for a worldwide total of $102.7 million.

I thought these were going to be yearly releases. Are they just getting these last 2 out of the way so they can get to the OT in 3D sooner? I'd like to think they would bring in more than the $45m Phantom Menace did.

The silly changes to the OT won't be any less obnoxious in 3D. I can't wait to see Luke's green lightsaber coming at me on the Falcoln in 3D too.

I've already mentioned it in this thread, but I have a feeling after ROTS comes out in 3-D, George will say "nope, movies didn't do well enough to justify doing the other three in 3D."

^^ Agreed. I think GL is delusional enough to think the prequels stand on their own and with the success of The Clone Wars, I think the OT is merely an afterthought anymore.

Nah, doing them in 3D would give him yet another opportunity to make more changes. He won't pass that up.

Hasn't he left decisions like this to Kathleen Kennedy? She's supposed to be transitioning to take over Lucasfilms in the next year or two.

Very strange that they said nothing about the 3D movies at Celebrations VI which finished yesterday. I guess they will show the preview at SDCC in summer 2013.

In AOTC, the flying car chase in the city and the asteroid field fights are probably going to look great in 3D
ROTS has that battle in the opening that should look good as well.
