I thought it was an entertaining popcorn movie Then again, the last Wolverine I really read was the Claremont-Miller mini, so I wasn't overly concerned about portrayals of the peripheral characters.

As suspected/predicted by many, "Wolverine" pretty much got lost in the "Star Trek"'s dust. Few are even talking about "Wolverine" anymore. Good or bad. As an update, it grossed about 17.6M from Monday-Thursday. The box-office for "Wolverine" as of Thursday is 102.6M. Analysts expect 35M this weekend. In the end, a total in the neighborhood of 175M seems likely.

I went in with low expectations, but I didn't think it was that bad... However, when a character starts to tell a story onscreen, I tend to zone out & I missed the whole moon story... I understood the moon had a lover and his name was wolverine, but what happened in the story?

So what -- if any -- explanation is there for Sabretooth turning into a hulking simpleton by the time of the first X-Men movie? Does he just de-evolve for about 15 years?

My guess is at some point he gets a claw to the brain or something (I was kind of expecting that to happen near the end).

The real answer is that Sabretooth was pretty lame in X-Men 1, so they decided to retcon to make him a better villain.

Saw this over the weekend. Had collected X-Men comics years and years ago and am a fan of all three (yes all three) X-Men movies.
I knew of the rollercoaster reactions to this movie from this board and the rest of fandom and went in with no expectations on a free tickets from the BD trilogy so the price was right.
Is it a great movie in my opinion, no. But it was an entertaining summer popcorn flick that I will pick up on BD when it comes out. I will agree the CG was weak in some areas but overall a solid B to B+ in my book.

Nolan "Nate Drake" North (he was also Raphael in TMNT) is the definitive Deadpool in there. He was what kept me invested in Hulk Vs. Wolverine. After the animated Tales Of Asgard movie, they should make an animated Deadpool movie starring Nolan North.

They called him Victor. And while we know Victor Creed is Sabertooth, they never called him Sabertooth in the movie. Thus, it's two different people in the eyes of Fox.

As for deadpool. that was a waste of what could have been good ryan reynolds material. Here's hoping the deadpool spin off actually allows ryan to actually be wade.

Honestly, I'd rather imagine that something changes Creed between Wolverine and X-Men 1. Which certainly reminds me that for all the love Bryan Singer gets, he certainly did a terrible job with his own share of characters.

I'm amazed with so much analysis over Sabertooth...Between the time span of Wolverine and X-Men 1, one way of looking at it is that Victor Creed basically became more or an animal. He became what Wolverine did not become. They are two opposites. The X-men 1 Sabertooth sort of just let himself go - when one lives in the wild, you grow your hair long, hair color can change, you kill animals to make your own fur clothes, you stop talking as much, you go crazy, you become just a killer, etc. From this perspective of actually connecting Liev Schreiber's Sabertooth to Tyler Mane's Sabertooth, it's sort of sad how Sabertooth evolves - how he has no control over his wildness....

But that's just one way of looking at it. I'm sure Fox and writers couldn't care less about the continuity of those two Sabertooths...

Eventhough Wolverine has gotten a lot of negative critisicm, I still think it's an excellent prequel for characters such as Wolverine, Sabertooth, Stryker, Deadpool...

People may think Deadpool wasn't done well, but don't be surprised when the Wolverine movie Deadpool may be better portrayed than in his hypothetical upcoming solo Deadpool film. Look what happened to the solo movies of Elektra and Catwoman. Those characters where better as small roles in their first movies (Daredevil and Batman)...

Just caught this as I didn't want to miss the theatrical run; I thought it wasn't bad personally, probably better than X-Men 1 on balance.



I look forward to a sequel, but they really need to pay for ILM to do their CGI.

I watched this tonight and I was not impressed. Horrible script and just plain dull.

I didn't get the chance to catch this in the theater, so I just watched the Blu Ray and I thought it was pretty darned good.

I haven't read X-Men comics in about 12 or 13 years, so I didn't get caught up in any of the, "The comic book version of character X was way better than the movie version," thing. I thought that the story filled in the gaps leading up to the first X-Men movie quite nicely. I also though the action scenes were good and both Hugh Jackman and Liev Schrieber were very good in their roles.

It's a comic book movie - one with a little more of an edge than most (more violence) - and on that scale it delivered the goods quite well. It was fun.

That shot of him sawing a board in a flannel shirt while smoking a cigar was easily the best part of the movie. My friend and I laughed for a good minute or two after that random shot hit the screen.
