Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

Looks like the rumors of a Shepard Fairey print dropping in the next month or so are true. I can only imagine the price they will be going for on eBay since they will probably sell out in about .5 seconds.

I am guessing it's like the Akira screening where you can buy it at the theater? They haven't yet announced how to get tix even.

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

There some sort of Twitter or Facebook desktop alert app or something ?
I don't have an account for either as I pretty much stick to msg boards for my social networking. It's all I can handle .... getting old I guess

I actually receive emails from Spoke Art and I have them added on Facebook too. I tend to get the Facebook notice way before the email. It's about the only one I know of though, I'd guess some of the other websites might have a facebook/twitter for updates as well.

Sorry. I probably should have stated my interest was for MONDOTEES
I'd like to find some sort of desktop widget or something that alerts when they make a post on either Twitter of Facebook.

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

Tada.

Sorry for the crummy pic... my gf stole the DSLR when she went out of town this weekend. Ha. I'll take a better one when she returns.

I'm so used to buying these things flat... they had them rolled waiting at the front. It's seriously difficult to get these things into a poster frame when they've been rolled.

BTW: All those posters that Mondo tweeted about being in the flat file are gone. No Star Trek nor NOES or Scream left. Just a bunch of Three Lions and Chewbacca posters that never sell.

We ended up seeing True Legend (Thor was sold out, grr) and it was strange seeing David Carradine in that film. The film was actually dedicated to him.

Your GF hates posters so much that she leaves town every time you get one?

How fast did those sell out? I would of ordered the Bridget von Hammersmark if I wasn't too late.

No clue. I didn't care for them once I saw the posters pictures bigger then the thumbnails so I didn't watch it closely. I really wanted to like the Kill Bill one... Maybe I'm just spoiled after seeing the epic Mondo one.

She telecommutes out of a main office 200 miles away in Corpus Christi... so she typically spends 3 weeks in-town and 1 week out-of-town each month (sometimes 2 weeks on a busy month). I'd never do that shit (too much driving) but she likes the job and Corpus Christi sucks so much ass that neither one of us remotely wants to live there permanently. LOL.

Those in long-term relationships know that it's much easier to sneak frivolous purchases in the door when the missus is out

It actually took some hours for all of them to totally sell out. The Shosanna one went the fastest though, by the time I got out of work they only had Britta and Beatrix left. Rhys Cooper will have them at his site soon he said.

I'm really glad I ended up getting a Tarantino print that I didn't have, the Rampage print is also pretty awesome. Not to derail the thread too much, but if anyone ends up with some prints they'd like to trade, shoot me a PM.

I was aware of Alamo through a friend who had been in the area on work off and on the last few years. Then in 2007 the Rolling Roadshow came to Fort Knox for a screening of Goldfinger and that's what brought these posters to my attention. Even if it hadn't been for that personal contact, though, it's hard to believe that in the Internet era a collectibles market could exist in obscurity, especially one that attracts popular artists and well-established licenses.

He said his Facebook group would get the first notification of their drop as well. I need that Shosanna print!

I can't believe how many prints I already have, I really need to drop some coin on more frames now. There are a few Doyle prints I still want to grab from Poster Cabaret too...

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

Rolling Roadshow screenings have been announced. I suppose we can expect posters for all. It's Texas-centric this year. Not sure a Tender Mercies poster would be a real hit though . . .

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

Just checked the Roadshow line-up and can't wait to see the Searchers print...based on the film alone I want it, so the artist will really need to screw up for me not to try to purchase it.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have tips or tricks on flattening their prints?

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

If they have been rolled in a tube for a long time I will take them out and just let them sit like that for a while. Then (or if it's pretty new) I lay them out with books on the corners like my pics for a week or a few days. then stack them up between foam core which I have on top of a book shelf right now. Some I also put in mylar bags from bags unlimited. All my Star Wars are like that.

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

I have 4 large flat cardboard sheets taped together like a book. I put the prints inbetween the "pages" and put books on top to weigh it down. A few days later, they are fairly flat.
