I prefer Valhalla Rising over Bronson. But both movies have great performances by Mads Mikkelson and Tom Hardy respectively.

As do I. Hell of a trip Valhalla Rising takes you. Mads was badass in it.

I've heard that a few times, I just couldn't get into Valhalla.

The Radio 1 Rescore was just not as good. It's like ordering a steak and eggs sunnyside up at a restaurant and then they give you a hamburger with a side of cottage cheese and fruit.

A different experience entirely.

Can't wait till BBC three does this for more films!

That's one I've been meaning to check out. Mainly because of clips I've seen of Hardy in the role.

After a few years and more viewings I still don't get the hard-on that so many people have for this film. It still comes off like Refn was trying too hard to make an artsy over the top violent film. Its disappointing because I wanted to like this when I saw it initially and didn't but thought maybe repeat viewings would help my view on it but nope. Overall to me still one of the most overrated films in recent years.

Outside of one scene in an elevator, I don't recall anything in the movie being overly artsy. It just seems like a movie from a different era and is really entertaining. It's A grade film making applied to a b-grade movie.

Well that was the intended purpose, a different experience entirely. I finally got a chance to see this, and while I do prefer the original soundtrack, this one worked well mostly due to the way it changes the pacing in a lot of the scenes. Overall, I enjoyed this experiment. I wouldn't mind seeing more.

Drive was a very affecting film for me when it came out. Like a moron, driving a lesser car, I'd just drive around the city listening to the score.

I mean, while we're at it, why don't we just try watching Reservoir dogs by removing stuck in the middle with you and just put in some other music. Just doesn't work the same.

No it doesn't, but at the same time Madsen seems uncomfortably psychotic without the music.

This movie is two scenes. The opening chase and the elevator. Other than that, its terrible. Except for the jacket.

If that. Overblown fluff that borrows from several other better films that Refn stole from.

Re: Drive (Nicolas Winding Refn 2011) (Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Ron Perlman, etc

I am currently watching it on IFC. Its one of my top 10 favorite movies. Never understood the hate from some. But i learnt a long time ago not everyone has good taste, and understand thats their problem.

Oh and would love to know that list of movies he stole from.

This was the sequel to Baby Driver.

But it has too cool for school electronic music and barely any dialogue - it's a classic!

Kidding; I really liked the movie, too.

Oh, it's definitely in my top 5 from the decade or so. Has great replay value.

Didn't know about this Radio 1 re-score. I saw a clip from the race scene and it came off as pretty generic.

Should have went with the original score that was dropped. Symmetry by Johnny Jewel:

That would have been interesting.

Great, great movie. I have soundtrack songs on phone and love when they play through Bluetooth.

Beyond both being about getaway drivers, they really aren't anything alike. Tarantino "steals" more for his films than Drive ever did.

True

IMO, style wise Drive is more influenced by the films of Michael Mann and Jean-Pierre Melville than it is by Walter Hill.
