Fantastic Four. Spider-man. X-Men. And any characters associated with those properties are with other studios.

As we end Phase II and move into future films, the more obscure properties will be coming into play while the more adult properties will probably head to television.

Yeah, the big properties are already elsewhere... if they're going to go to space, this or Nova was the way to go (they can't use the Silver Surfer or Galactus, and the Avengers are a little too early for a full on Kree/Skrull war), and the Nova Corps might have backfired a bit in the similarity to Green Lantern. It also has instant tie-ins to Thanos.

Honestly, as good as Abnett and Lannings series of miniseries was (Annihilation, Conquest, War of Kings, etc.) it couldn't sustain itself even in the comic book market (I realize they have a series again, but I'm unclear if that's due to the movie), so it's not like even comic fans were clamoring for them.

I guess you could reason that Marvel is at an all time high still off the Avengers success, and there's no better time to release one of the more oddball properties since it actually ties in to their overall story plans. Thor 2 was already a success, and Captain America 2 seems like it will be too, so even if this isn't a big success they can get away with it.

I like the trailer. Marvel could be becoming the next Disney in some respects. It's good to bring out other properties non-Avengers IMO.

I see this still doing maybe $125-150m domestically. I'm not sure if that's a disappointment. Still looks poised to do better than Guillermo Del Toro's stuff.

I hope you're right. I tend to be conservative with b.o. predictions. Last time I over-predicted was Man of Steel (thought it was gonna do close to $400m).

If you're right. That would prove to me that Marvel Studios is as much as a household name as Disney and Pixar. Can't wait to find out.

Umm...I wouldn't be so sure about that, unless you're talking global box office. Remember, this is an August release...films don't do traditionally boffo numbers in August. Elysium (granted, it wasn't that great) only managed $93 million last summer.

Even if it's great, don't expect more than $50 million opening weekend...I think the all-time record is only in the high $60 million range for that month.
