Not a single complaint from me. No nitpicks about color shading, character wardrobe imperfections, music, light saber design or whatever other minutia passes as flaws these days. I was FLOORED by teaser. (The same teaser I swore I wouldn't watch.) Hopefully I show better restrain when the full trailer comes out. I've watched the teaser a good 25 times.

Which would make it different from George Lucas' Star Wars movies how?

What was Lucas' reason to just have shit passing the screen and etc? I think Boba Fett was a culprit of such things too, no?

The same thing I was thinking. I remember when The Phantom Menace trailer premiered in 1998 and everyone got excited by it because it was a well-done trailer. And then in the Summer of 1999, we got to see the full movie and found out that there were enough good bits to make a good trailer but those bits were all surrounded by utter crap.

He wanted the place to seem more alive, like a bustling place, at least in the area outside the Cantina.

That's exactly how Episodes I-III look, especially EpII.

But instead Lucas created new stuff in the Special Editions that were at best distracting from the focus of the scene and at worst ruining the scene with cornball attempts at humor and/or terrible-looking CGI.

I wonder what year George Lucas stopped using the internet? Even if you are a billionaire getting online and seeing how much people hate you and what you did to Star Wars has to take its toll.

The original Trilogy drastically altered the cinematic landscape. People seem to forget that aspect, since Star Wars became such an essential element of the culture. The special effects were mind blowing for audiences in the 1970s.

The Empire Strikes Back is a dark, dark movie thematically, you simply wouldn't see it made today as a blockbuster intending to gross billions. Lucas did begin to pander to children in Return of the Jedi, which is why some consider it the weak sister of the OT.

I assume you are one of those people that believe Star Wars is nothing more than a 1930s or 1940s serial with better FX? Lucas built an entire fictional universe in three movies that far surpassed anything in depth seen outside of novels at the time of their creation. It's the primary reason why Star Wars became the most popular movie trilogy of all time. In that regard it stands alone.

At the same time... why should SW alter the landscape now? The landscape is always changing in little bits now. Making it harder to notice or recognize the change. Is it wrong that it just becomes another good/bad movie in the bulk of film?

The title needs to be changed! I about peed my pants when the narrator said "Dark side ... And trade negotiations." That needs to be the title!

Sone very minor Mockingjay details below.

Spoiler:
I'm not really arguing your point, but I went and saw Mockinjay yesterday and noted the similarity to Empire in tone. Nothing good happens, and all of the main characters are tortured throughout. In the first fifteen minutes alone we have a mountain of corpses and live broadcast executions.

How fucking depressing.

What was the spoiler? I'll put tags on it but i didn't give away anything aside from some very minor, mild details.

I like the new logo with the small movie title between Star Wars. Wonder if the other new SW movies logos are going to be like that, too.

I re-watched the trailer for TPM and it's actually not a very well-cut trailer at all. There is little sense of pace, just a bunch of gee-whiz visuals all mashed together. The new trailer really is superior. I find the Trailer Voice helps a lot.

My first reaction is that that sounds like Cumberbatch but the more I hear it the more I think it is Serkis.

It has been confirmed to be Andy Serkis. He really does have an amazing, chameleonic voice.

One thing I hope the new SW movies don't have is the screen wipe transition. I always found them hokey and distracting.

How is it superior? You do realize these are the only finished FX shots they have, so they decided to just edit them together with a voice over. Really nothing special about it.

Isn't that the whole point of star wars? That's like saying I don't like beer because it's alcoholic and watery.
