This is Star Wars we're talking about. It will shatter December box office records. Quote me on that.

Yep I definitely think some people are underestimating it. It has huge name value and will be the big film to see over the holidays.

That's a no-brainer, seeing how the biggest December opening is only $84 million. It will probably do somewhere in the $150 million ballpark the first weekend, but it's not going to touch Jurassic World's $208 million opening. Although I suspect it will challenge JW's overall box office take, and most likely surpass it.

Yep, it's Ben Burtt. Matthew Wood (who was also the voice of Grievous) is the supervising sound editor.

Spoiler:
I think you're right. The first report of the snow duel came about a year ago from someone of TheForce.net forum who claimed to have seen dailies. This was also the first mention of Kylo's cross guard saber, so it's probably legit.

That person wrote Rey was on the ground during the duel, so it sounds like she does get injured or knocked out. I remember MakingStarWars stated that Finn is recovering in a medical bay at the end of the movie, so he probably gets the worst of it in the end.

Ten bucks says Finn gets a hand cut off.

It would be kind of cool if both Finn and Rey are Jedi, and it's another "Duel of the Fates" kind of thing. Maybe Finn is Force-sensitive, but he was never trained for whatever reason. If the rumor of Luke living in isolation is true, then there may not be many Jedi in the galaxy if he never actually reopened the Jedi Academy. Rey, being Han and Leia's daughter, could be one of the very few Jedi that Luke trained, and maybe Rey will recognize Force-sensitivity in Finn and take him as her padawan in Episode VIII.

I'd really like to get away from the small universe syndrome of the prequels.

Yup. Like I said, it'll probably crack the top ten opening weekends. But there's no way it's going to do $100 million more than the current overall record holder.

Strong agreement. Like I said before, they probably are just misleading us in not revealing Finn and Rey's last names and that they aren't related to anyone we have seen before.

I'd still bet on Rey being a legacy character. I don't think they put the line "The Force runs strong in my family." in the second teaser for no good reason. As for Finn, could it be possible he doesn't have a last name? Maybe he was brought up in the First Order and only went by an ID number until now.

I keep seeing people comparing the prequels to the new trilogy, moneywise. The prequels were horrible. They were utter dogsh*t. The prequels made boatloads of money. Can anyone get their heads around what these films will do if they're actually good? We haven't had a good Star Wars film since 1983.

Wasn't the Star Wars saga originally, or at least at one point, a multigenerational epic that would cover three generations of the Skywalker family, with only the two droids appearing in all nine films?

Yeah, but that was BEFORE they threw out Lucas' shitty outline.

I wonder why the quote in that clip and the same quote in the first teaser are 2 different line readings.

Daisy Ridely is clearly cut from the same genetic cloth as Natalie Portman and a young Carrie Fisher. To think Rey is not somehow an offspring of Leia, you're out of your fucking minds.

It has recently been confirmed that Snoke and Kylo Ren are not Sith. They are something else called "The Knights of Ren." Well at least Kylo is. It hasn't been said yet exactly what Snoke is. Very little has been said about Snoke.

Kylo Ren isn't actually his name. Ren is a title like Darth. So Kylo Ren is a codename like Darth Vader, Darth Maul, Darth Sidious, etc. So like with holding back Finn's and Rey's last names, there is a possibility they are holding back Kylo's real name too. Maybe he is a Solo or Skywalker... I doubt they would reuse the storyline of a Skywalker falling to the dark side again, but who knows. The whole full mask thing does give me a Darth Vader like vibe that they may be purposefully hiding Kylo's real identity though.

I doubt they abandoned it completely though. They are probably using bits and pieces of it here and there. I always viewed the "Episodes" as being the story of the Skywalker family as well. The prequel trilogy was the story of Anakin, and the original trilogy was the story of Luke, and the sequel trilogy will be the story of Luke's and/or Leia's children. Like a previous poster mentioned, the casting and resemblance of Daisy Ridley to Natalie Portman and Carrie Fisher is too uncanny to not be intentional. The "Episodes" in my opinion should be all about the Skywalkers/Solos. The "anthology" titles like Rogue One are the other stories outside the Skywalker storyline.

We need a female Jedi. Not a background character but one of our main characters.
