I sort of interpret it as a rough cut, not the final edited version.

Imagine you were dying and it was your final dream wish to see the new Star Wars movie, and that new Star Wars movie was The Phantom Menace.......

Why imagine when you could just watch "Fanboys"?

Yeah, at the end of "Fanboys," when that guy got to watch the movie, I was really hoping he'd look at his friends and say, "It fucking sucked. Jesus, I wish I hadn't seen it. Now that I've actually watched it, I'd rather live out my few remaining days imaging how awesome it would have been instead of knowing what an absolute piece of bantha shit it really is."

But that movie spent so much time sucking George Lucas' dick that was never going to happen.

I preferred the way it actually ended... with the rest of the guys at opening night and before it starts one of them asks "What if the movie sucks?". It was a nice wink at the audience since the movie actually did suck.

If I was dying, I don't know that I would actually want to see Episode VII because I would never get to see how it really ends since I wouldn't be able to see VIII and IX. I think I would prefer to die thinking of ROTJ as "the end." Good for Disney letting this guy see the movie early though. Hopefully it didn't end on a big cliffhanger, and hopefully it was better than the prequels.

Yeah it does seem strange. My theory is that Finn is not initially a Jedi at the start of the movie. The first time he uses a lightsaber will be during that scene with Kylo Ren. He will demonstrate Force potential then, and Luke and/or Rey will decide to train him then. Looking back at the previous two trilogies, the first movies of both respective trilogies had Luke and Anakin just starting their Jedi training. That would seem to make Finn the main character like Luke and Anakin were previously, but I thought Rey was supposed to be the main character, so who knows.

I think this is going to play out character wise similar to the original trilogy. Rey = Luke. Finn = Han. Dameron = Lando.

Luke will end up training Rey in the next movie preparing for the big showdown in Episode IX.

On a side note, i actually get a feeling that Leia might be the one to die in this movie.

I think the "Big Three" are safe, but Chewbacca is going to bite it. The old EU was like that too with Luke, Leia, and Han always being safe, but they killed off Chewie. The last trailer had a couple scenes where it does look like Chewie dies. One scene shows Rey crying over what looks like a mound of indiscernible brown fur lying on the ground. Another scene shows an emotional Han and Leia hugging.

Well it looks more like Finn she's crying over. You can see part of his leather jacket on the left side of the screen.

Love this shot. Very "Apocalypse Now":

Struzan did a similar illustration with X-Wings on the D23 poster and I thought it looked amazing. Glad to see that imagery is actually in the movie.

If JJ called it Tatooine then everyone would bitch that they recycling that planet again from the OT and PT.

I honestly don't care if it looks like Tatooine and they call it Jakku, as long as Disney doesnt pollute this trilogy with CGI worlds like Geonosis, Kamino, Mustafar, etc, which all like a video game now compared to the real locations of Tatooine, Hoth and Endor from the OT.

Agree on all counts. More real locations, less CGI.

The problem with real locations is that you are then limited in what environments you can actually film in. In what real location could you possibly film a water world like Kamino or a volcanic world like Mustafar? Everyone wants a larger variety of environments and not another desert world like Tatooine/Jakku yet again for the hundredth time, but to do more environments you may have to CGI it.
