That Maz Kanata stuff is interesting especially since her part seemed to be edited down from the trailers.

Also, what was the deal with Max Von Sydow's character? His part was ridiculously small, but there seemed to be some major back story there. I almost thought he was going to be Kanan from Rebels, which would have been cool.

I don't recall her in the trailers, mainly because I tried to go into this as blindly as I could. But I was enjoying the Maz Kanata character as a whole.

I have my ticket for tomorrow night, and I am going into it with a very open mind, but something is bothering me and it needs to be said. Star Wars has been a franchise with a fanbase of mostly young boys and nerdy guys. The fact that a woman is in the lead is very problematic to me, and the filmmakers only did it to please the social justice warriors and the third reich feminists. Instead of continuing to cast the leads in regards to who makeup the fan base, they catered to the crazies. If you are a woman and a Star Wars fan, respect that you like a boy centered franchise. This is further prove of the war on men, and a cultural attack that proves guys cant have anything to call their own anymore.

You know, I actually believe that there is a very real, if relatively miniscule, "anti-men" sentiment out there that seeps into certain corners of our culture, but you sir are insane. Insane. One more time for clarity. Insane.

Rey is a great character. I'm sure coming out of the movie you will be 100% fine with the fact that she is a female. I'll admit, when it was first announced the casting, I kind of thought the same thing. But now I am totally on board.

I enjoyed the hell of this movie but the more I think about it the more I find the blatant rehashing of the original movie to be unacceptable. That was always my #1 criticism of Jedi and it's literally 10x the rehash Jedi was. You can't tell me the only story they possibly could have written is nearly a setpiece-by-setpiece remake.

The strength of the writing was in the dialogue and characterization but they just threw up their hands and gave up on the plotting. It doesn't ruin the movie but it certainly isn't a trivial flaw.

Still a tremendously entertaining movie but the lazy plotting is enough to place it firmly behind Mad Max as the genre movie of the year in my eyes.

We've some differences between the two that is INHERENT that they're there for some fucking reason. That's cool and the whatnot. Still... fucking equals though. This isn't sports where differences in the bodies would make a difference for some.

The film is pretty good. The film actually VERY FUCKING WELL makes smart subtle note of Rey being a woman as she is. It's very well written how they tackle her.

You're the backwards mentality. Get the fuck over it. There's always someone better than you. And it could be a black guy. A woman. A black woman. Or whatever. The world isn't your White Man land. And it never was. It just looked that way cuz of the circumstances in the times.

Daisy Ridley was the right fucking person for the job. It could have been played by a male even, aside from like 2 little bits that are more associated w/ women.

You got to let that weak minded mentality die. Women can be leads in the SW world. They can be bombastic heroes in the wastelands of Mad Max. They're about to make a female Marvel film. They're doing Wonder Woman right now.

Women are the same as Men. And there's no fucking reason they can't play in the playground that boys do for saving the day.

It does seem iffy though cuz all they did was switch the genders instead of adding a cultural and visual variety. It's Paul Feig's film. It's got Melissa McCarthy. And etc. It's got issues already just based as a template. I don't know if it'll suck. I can't say anything about that.
