The Love Parade
Gasp! Two Maurice Chevalier movies in a row that I liked (The other being One Hour With You) but I would've liked this one best if it were about 20 minutes shorter.

Fortress 2: ReEntry- Very poor effort without the budget to sell its concept of a space prison. Some of the performances were also very lame. Poor Pam Grier what happenned to you?

Today I watched THE GIFT (2000) and COUNTRY STRONG (2010). Both enjoyable and well worth watching.

Films of Fury: The Kung Fu Movie Movie
Despite the lame cartoon segments and awful choice of narrator (Wouldn't be surprised if it's the same kid you hear doing the Disney Channel promos), this still ends up being one of the more comprehensive martial arts-movie docs. But that's probably because we finally get extensive (And up-to-date) segments done on the the likes of Jet, Woo, Stephen Chow and Donnie Yen. Though I was shocked that Yuen Woo Ping didn't seem to get much mention.

Fanboys

Not a great movie, but it is one that I enjoy. The cast is good, with the exception of Dan Fogler who just annoys the shit out of me in everything he's been in. Some fun cameos along the way too. Just wish we could have gotten more Kristen Bell in the Slave Leia costume.

Re: Last movie you watched

We saw a double feature of The Whisperer in the Darkness and Call of Cthulhu at the arthouse theater.

I don't think we've seen a mainstream release in the theater during all of 2012.

The Dark Side of the Moon - 1990
Eh, it was okay. Kind of a "bad but entertaining" flick.

The Amazing Spiderman 3D

Has its flaws and quirks, but still moderately enjoyable.

Zero Dark Thirty

Riveting. The critical praise for Chastain and Bigelow is well deserved. Great supporting cast, too.

Monty Python's Life of Brian- It's nowhere as good as The Holy Grail, but it's still one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. It also is somewhat of an appropriate movie to enjoy on Christmas Eve.

Re: Last movie you watched

Skyfall - I'm not the biggest bond fan to begin with and this film didn't exactly go a long way in making me one. It was good and all, but too long I felt with so-so action (the only exception being the silhouette fight scene in Shanghai, that was awesome) and while Bardem made a great villain, he was barely in the flick.

Something Wild (1986)

Unconventional romantic road trip comedy that takes several unexpected (and surprisingly dark) turns in the second half. Good direction by Jonathan Demme. Jeff Daniels and Melanie Griffith are excellent in their roles. Definitely the best performances I've seen from either of them.

Total Recall (2012): I liked the visuals, action scenes as well as the addition of Biel and Beckinsale. Didn't care for Colin Farrell as lead though.

The Iron Giant - I hadn't seen this in about 10 years, and it really choked me up in places.

Backyard - I thought it was good. Fictional film based on actual events about women being murdered in Mexico.

Shaky final act, but everything else remained solid.

Django Unchained
Great film.

I'm seeing Zero Dark Thirty on Thursday, so thought I'd watch Blue Steel (French Blu-ray import) to get warmed up for it. It rocked.

I liked that movie. Enjoyed William Shatner's cameo, the Rush references and the Star Wars vs Star trek groups.

Re: Last movie you watched

Cloud Atlas - Unique, solid flick. A well paced movie that's still a little too short (despite a long runtime) with some odd choices (the make-up thing just didn't work), but very much worth seeing.

Pitch Perfect - Very entertaining even if a bit generic. Solid humor, good cast, surprisingly decent singing - and thankfully not a musical.
