Gotta disagree. With The Witches of Eastwick, Lorenzo's Oil, and Babe: Pig in the City, he has made some good to great films.

if Miller had made only 4 movies in his career and he was content with that, i would say he was very successful.

No love for Happy Feet?

Seriously. I haven't seen Happy Feet. Is it any good?

Its kind of hard to make fun of it when they acknowledge its one of the best movies of the year.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road (Miller, 2015) — The Reviews Thread

Wife was out of town so I wanted to catch this in a theater, the $2 place had it at 10:10 PM last night(I took a nap before I went, damn I'm old).

Anyways, just perfection from start to finish. Nothing was false, no boring exposition needed. I had seen bits and pieces of the originals as a kid back in the 80's, but I've never re-visited them. I think if you have any understanding of cinema storytelling you can get into this without any background.

This is one of the very few movies that improves every time I watch it. I liked it initially, the craziness won me over, repeat viewings cemented how good it actually is.

Even though I just bought it, this is tempting especially on an Imax screen.

The general consensus was that the 3D wasn't very good, though some liked it. I believe it was post convert.

George Miller always had plans to shoot Fury Road in 3D, but had to change those plans due to budget. So, he shot this movie with 3D in mind and even said its his preferred version during the premiere.

That being said, I don't believe it's true at all that the "general consensus" thought the 3D was poor. I saw the movie twice in 3D and once in 2D. The 3D is terrific and I have no desire to see it in 2D again. I will admit that the night scenes with blue tint did look better in 2D and the scene at the end with the steering wheel and guitar flying at the screen was cheesy.

CinemaBlend review Fury Road's 3D and gave it a near perfect rating of 33/35

The general consensus that the 3D was poor was the response in my area, I think it's going to vary experience to experience depending on the setups and how they saw it (ie: IMAX vs RealD vs whateverthefuck). 3D that isn't CG heavy seems to be the toughest to get right from a projectionist standpoint so no huge surprise.

Your local anecdotal evidence is hardly a "general consensus."

I thought the 3D added very little.

Fine fine, the general consensus was mixed based on reviews, message board postings, and various viewer comments in person.

Better? (It's a trade off regardless, as this is one bright, beautiful movie.)

I didn't feel the 3D did much aside from just be 3D. It wasn't anywhere near Pacific Rim quality for a PC. I found the 3D to be...

The film itself is all kinds of badass awesomeness. The 3D PC? Not so much.

Outside of a few scenes, I didn't feel like the 3d did much. But getting to see Mad Max on an IMAX screen is enough to get me back to the theater one more time. I'll probably go for a cheaper weeknight show.
