Umberto always seems like a douche. DiCaprio was discussed since the beginning. And he said it wasn't true:

I'm surprised Phoenix would agree to this after all the back and forth with Doctor Strange.

I’m sort of over Phoenix as an actor. His whole acting strange schtick got old to me and while I think he has talent I don’t really seek out his films anymore.

Hold judgment until you see You Were Never Really Here.

I have nothing against Phoenix, but I've had to accept the fact that I'll never see a proper live action film adaption of my two favorite comic villains. The other being Bizarro. This coming from a "Marvel guy".

After seeing Inherent Vice, if Phoenix does a superhero franchise, he should play Wolverine.

Though I don't think I'd want to sign up as a lead in a franchise because he seems like someone who's going to flake on you.

Joaquin could definitely make for an interesting Joker. It's just a shame the studio will likely fuck it up.

His acting strange thing was only for a brief period of time, for a film that was made almost 10 years ago, and he was playing a character. Since then I'm not sure what he's done that could be classified as "acting strange". Plus he's made some pretty good movies with some really good directors since then. But to each their own I guess.

Sounds about right

Allocine attempted to ask Phoenix about the Joker movie, and he seemed puzzled as heck that it even existed. “What movie about the Joker?” he asked, and as the interviewer probed further, Phoenix simply said, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Phoenix would be a tough interview.

It's already been reported that he's in talks. He hasn't signed a contract yet, so he probably has to play dumb about this. His agent is probably still talking to the studio and probably hasn't filled him in on all the details.

Failed comedian who goes psycho? I think I will just put on King Of Comedy and skip this.

Many fans scratched their heads when news first broke that Martin Scorsese, who has eschewed superhero films in the past, would be a producer of the film. But his involvement makes more sense given his work on 1982’s “King of Comedy,” which starred Robert De Niro as a deluded comedian who can’t catch a break. The Joker origin story will include nods to that film, insiders told TheWrap.

I generally like the DC animated movies, or at least find the worst passable, but that one was terrible

The stuff adapted from the graphic novel was fine, but the Batgirl sub-plot was...problematic.

I mean it’s actually in line with one of his accepted origins so being a failed comedian doesn’t bother me. It’s more the general directionless path these films are on that I don’t like.

Well, people were clamoring for more standalone DC films that weren't part of a greater universe that had a greater "auteur director" influence.

Here you go...

Yeah, I just don't think what the Animation team does really matters here.
