Re: 40th Anniversary of Alien - May 25
I don’t understand the confusion. If nothing was said of the hows and why’s of certain things in Alien and then explained as sequels can do in Aliens, then that’s the explanation all along. The reveal you would say. Is it not?

You countered with no one was turned into an egg [in the [b]Director's Cut], they were only being cocooned by the xenomorph, even though it clearly shows Brett being turned into an egg.
And this is one of the reasons people prefer the Theatrical Cut of of Alien to the Director's Cut as it is consistent with the canon established in its sequel, Aliens.

I don’t remember it showing Brett clearly turning into an egg either ... guess I may have to watch it once my wife goes to bed! (Till then, I am being tortured with another godless piece of disgusting horror — Hallmark Movies.)

Yeah ... No.
I watched the scene last night ... My brain doesn’t jump to “they are being turned into eggs!” Being consumed by the egg, maybe. Being used as an incubator, probably. But literally turning into eggs? That’s the kind of stupid shit that gets dropped from a screenplay before it hits the big screen. Oh wait ... it was.

Just a reminder there are two more days Alien is in theaters on October 15th and 16th. After that who knows when it may ever be screened in theaters since Disney is keeping all classic Fox movies out of theaters.

Disappointed I am going to end up missing this. Was going to hit the 4:00 showing today, but when I went to order my ticket there wasn’t one. Only 7:00 screenings the next two days and I have to referee volleyball tomorrow and work Wednesday night.

Alien is returning to theaters for a limited engagement starting on Alien Day 4/26. Any chance to see it in theaters I'll be there.

I saw this in the theatres back when it first came out. I wasn't old enough to get in on my own so I talked my mom into taking me. Needless to say it was not her kind of movie ...

The most important thing about the Director's Cut is that it keeps the movie character deaths in the same order as the on-screen actor deaths.
John Hurt - Died 1/25/17
Harry Dean Stanton - Died 9/15/17
Ian Holm - Died 6/19/20
Yaphet Kotto - Died 3/15/21
If Dallas dies when he encounters the Xenomorph, then Tom Skerritt being alive ruins everything. If Dallas is however still alive in a cocoon, then we are still on schedule and Veronica Cartwright is next up.

Sigourney Weaver & Veronica Cartwright are both 74 and Tom Skerritt is 90.

I've never seen the original Alien on the big screen. In 1979, I was only 6. I think I may have seen it for the 1st time on VHS sometime in the mid 80s when my Mom wasn't monitoring R rated movies like a hawk from me.
I'll be up for this if it's playing near me.

Re: 40th Anniversary of Alien - May 25
I desperately wanted to go see it when I was a kid, but I was 11 years old when it came out, and it was rated "R" in Ontario, which meant no one under 18 were allowed, even with accompanying adult. I had to make do with the novelization and my uncle renting the Ken Films Super 8 version (condensed to 17 minutes) when it became available at our local library (and finally on VHS years later). I didn't even get to own the awesome Kenner Alien figure until years later, I asked for one for Christmas but never got it, but I now have a boxed one proudly sitting on my shelf. So yeah, if this plays in a theater near me I'm definitely gonna see it!

I saw Alien in theaters before Disney bought the Fox library several years ago. I like that Disney is doing better with these limited engagement screenings of classic films in theaters so I'll definitely plan to see it that week.

Anyone think this will qualify for AMC A-List?
