Yeah, that’s 100% out of the Halloween 2018 playbook.

Since it’s going to be on Netflix, I’ll watch it.

Agreed! I've watched all the other films in the series, so I might as well watch this one.

Hoping that Fede Alvarez & Rodo Sayagues script goes a bit beyond what is shown in the trailers.

Marilyn Burns already came back to play Sally in a direct sequel before she passed. For the life of me all I can remember about that movie is that the main girl ended up being Leatherfaces cousin and Leatherface became a protagonist at the end.

That'd be 3D with Daddario..but I can't for the life of me remember Burns in it.

That's for the best with that movie

I want to agree, but also wonder if it's even bottom 3 at the same time.

So many terrible Chainsaw movies.

Texas 3D is terrible, but Leatherface (2017) is worse.

Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre Direct Sequel (2022, D: Garcia, P: Fede Alvarez)

I didn’t hate Texas Chainsaw 3D. It was alright in a cheesy way. Not a good movie, but somewhat watchable to me at least (although the cousin thing is dumb).

It’s not like this franchise has set the bar very high for sequel quality anyways. Other than the second film and the remake none of the others are particularly good.,

The original suffered from the really bad acting, I didn't like it at all. The remake with Jessica Biel and its prequel were more to my liking. The new one looks like a copy of the new Halloween, the difference being, no one knows who the old lady is.

Agreed. Honestly I think The first is fantastic, I think 2 and the remake are good, not great...and I think the rest are bad at best (But I think they are worse than that lol)

I'd probably say
TCM- 9-10/10
TCM 2- 7/10
Leatherface (TCM3) 3/10
Next Generation 1/10
TCM 2003- 7/10
The Beginning- 3-4/10
TC 2013- 3/10
Leatherface- 1/10

So there's 9 movies (including the Netflix one). 2 are called Leatherface, three are called Texas Chainsaw Massacre (yeah I know the first is technically Chain Saw) and another being called just Texas Chainsaw.

There's the original. Sequels that ignore any of the other movies (TCM 2, Texas Chainsaw, TCM 3 The next generation, Netflix). New Leatherface (2017) is supposed to be a prequel to this one too. People are saying that Texas Chainsaw belongs to this timeline, but who cares? lol
Remake & that has a prequel.

So I don't even think this has a timeline, considering there's the original, and then it branches out once for continuity and ends. Draw a Sun. A big circle with straight lines going out of it. TCM in the middle, and all the sequels for the lines in the Sun (even more appropriate, as I think the 2017 Leatherface should be shot into the Sun).

There's your timeline.

I totally forget about the 2017 one. Never seen it. Is it where he was a kid, or am I thinking something else?

A bunch of people escape from a mental hospital, and are on the run. Hijinks ensue...I don't remember much but the twist

Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre Direct Sequel (2022, D: Garcia, P: Fede Alvarez)

Just finished this. Surprisingly I kind of liked it. For a straight to Netflix sequel to a horror franchise that I’m not a huge fan of it entertained me.

The atmosphere is alright and there are some gnarly kills. Pacing is pretty good and the film doesn’t really drag. Characters are about what you would expect.

The Sally character coming back was cool, but she doesn’t play as big of a part as I expected. I dare say though that I liked how she was handled somewhat better than Laurie Strode in the new Halloween films.

There is a short scene after the credits roll too.

Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre Direct Sequel (2022, D: Garcia, P: Fede Alvarez)

Just finished watching this and it was fucking awful. The kills were great and that's about it. The audacity at calling this the real "sequel" to the first film. They clearly watched Halloween 2018 and repackaged it. At least Halloween had more fleshed out everything than this did. This one is only 83 minutes with credits. There's an after credit sequence, too.

It's in HD with DV / Atmos. Surprised it didn't get the 4K treatment.

If you're only interested in blood and guts, look no further. At least it's short.

Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre Direct Sequel (2022, D: Garcia, P: Fede Alvarez)

I thought it was ok. They were smart and kept it short. Not a lot of unnecessary filler once it gets rolling. The violence was pretty gruesome and I was surprised by the amount of deaths. The best scene in the film I didn't see coming. As long as you're in the mood for an old school slasher film and expect that going in it's not bad, especially with the one hour fifteen minute run time.

What a dumb story to put at the center of a slasher. This series continues to be trash. Better than the last two, but that isn’t a compliment.

Maybe it was my low expectations that made me enjoy it. I didn’t think it was great, but I thought it was fun enough.

Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre Direct Sequel (2022, D: Garcia, P: Fede Alvarez)

I had a lot of fun watching this. It doesn't feel like a TCM movie, so I can understand why fans don't like it. If they removed the TCM references, and just made a stand-alone popcorn slasher, I think it would get better reviews.

Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre Direct Sequel (2022, D: Garcia, P: Fede Alvarez)

The movie should've been Leatherface working on his saw trying to get it started while everyone packs up and leaves.
Or him giving up running after a 20 year old after ten seconds of exercise.
The girl is covered with black sludge/sewage and strolls onto the bus and no one instantly retches or avoids her as she passes?
How does a chainsaw go from totally silent to buzzing through a floor instantly?

This is bound to provide ample material for Youtubers for many years to come.
