Ugh this was awful and thankfully it was super short.
The influencers were idiots. Actually all the characters were idiots. I was
at the absolutely idiotic bus massacre scene. I mean seriously going to the back of the bus and tapping the windows? To who exactly? That bus of morons deserved to die.
and the requel aspect making Sally from the 1st movie like some badass like Laurie Strode in Halloween 2018![LOL](/images/smilies/lol.gif)
The kills of all these idiots were good and gory. The story was awful, but it's slightly better than the God awful Leatherface and Texas Chainsaw 3D, but that's not a high bar to exceed.

Worst Leatherface ever. And these so-called "commentaries" on Gen Z culture are getting a little tired. Watching these sequels and prequels is like cheating on the best fuck of your life. I'm going to go watch the original and wash the taste of this movie out of my mouth.

So did Netflix finance this BEFORE it was made?
It is no wonder they didn’t allow critics to release their reviews until the day of release.

It was an acquisition.

Netflix acquired the rights last August from Legendary. I think this was originally intended to be a theatrical release, but Legendary took Netflix's money.

At least I still have the original 3 and the Biel remake. I love those 4.
Interesting side note but I just read a partial interview with the director. I guess he was hired half way through production. Somehow, not a surprise.

At least Franklin is no longer the most annoying character in the TCM franchise. That honor now belongs to older sister Melody in this. Holy shit, that idiot deserved to die from the very beginning.
This was just a series of dumb people doing dumb things. The bus driver losing control of the bus and then stopping to get out after the chainsaw brushes against the side is the winner of the most stupid award in this though. Which is a tough feat considering we watched Sally wait 50 years, have a clean, point blank shot at Leatherface, and still die like a moron is a top contender.

I wonder if Marilyn Burns had not passed away 8 years ago, if she would have participated in this. She would have been 71 or 72. She did have a small part in Texas Chainsaw 3D in 2013.

Fun gore and that's all expect from a movie with 'chainsaw' and 'massacre' in the title.

^ bc that's what we care about in these movies...the age of these almost supernatural beings that die a thousand deaths and keep coming back again and again and again and...

I care.
Especially in this case of Leatherface who I don’t think is supposed to be a supernatural being.

Wait, I know this was supposed to be a “direct sequel” to the original but the Leatherface in this new movie was supposed to be the same Leatherface from the original?!
Wasn’t there a baby at one point as a member of that inbred family? Maybe this new Leatherface is THAT baby.

I think it’s supposed to be the og leatherface. I was trying to do the math while watching this train wreck. Even assuming he was 20 in the first movie, there’s no way an old man could pull this shit off.

The series is full of continuity errors.

I don’t dispute that. The series is a mess and the majority of it is bad, however if you make a point to say that you’re making a direct sequel to a film that takes place in 1974 and don’t want a geriatric killer, maybe set it a little closer than 48 years later.

I sort of have the same issue with Michael Myers in the new films. At the end of the day though these are dumb horror/slasher films. I just take them for what they are.
This was one of the more enjoyable entries in this franchise to me even though I wouldn’t call it a good movie.

Watched the original film tonight for the first time in ages. Still an incredibly disturbing movie. The implied violence is more effective than a splattering of blood and gore. Plus it’s just got such a gross, grimy feel to it.

I loved it but I also loved TCM: The beginning (2006) as well - I think it's way underrated and it sucks that the actual unrated cut is no longer available (think you can stream it on prime but the disc is no longer out there).
I know it doesn't take itself serious but it was a fun flick and I loved the gore.
I watched the original right after and it's still one of the most disturbing horror movies ever. I'm not too sure we'll ever get something like that again.
Sorry, but I love gory fun in a lot of my horror flicks and while there was some cheesy comedy in this that didn't work, it by no means made the movie as a whole come off that way.

Movie was garbage. TCM is a terrible franchise, even if it has one of the best horror movies of all time in it.
I'm just going to watch X and imagine that as a TCM movie.

Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre Direct Sequel (2022, D: Garcia, P: Fede Alvarez)
I thought about the Leatherface age continuity several times while watching it as well. Then I just decided I was in this just to watch people get hacked up by a chainsaw, in that aspect, it didn't disappoint. Especially since I don't care for the fake, always offended millennial, me first crowd anyway. I'll watch the original when I want to watch a shocking, gritty thriller that doesn't even have a high death count. I can watch the sequels when I'm in the mood for a hack and slash horror movie.
