^ Aren't there some abbreviations that are just too iconic to be used by more than one organization?

Movie theaters will reportedly be allowed to reopen this Friday in California. Governor Newsom will announce the guidance on how they will do so.

Yes!!! That means Tenet will be staying.

and fuck yeah I will make my way to see Unhinged as well.

Also worth noting, according to my AMC A-List account, they are scheduled to bill me again at the end of this month. So they are anticipating reopening as well.

There's been a lot of shoots in the LA area.

Looking forward to Tenet, but will be buying on media before I do see it.

I live in Southern California and as far as I know, Productions have not resumed yet.

Only writer's rooms are working via Zoom to prep for next TV season.

They still have to figure out the logistics of how many people can be on set, how hair and makeup will work etc. Vancouver was only recently approved to allow filming.

...to see Bloodshot and Call of the Wild?

Unfortunately, the studios and the movie theater companies are tied together. In order for anyone to make money, it basically all needs to come back at once across the country (or better yet, the world). I just don't see that happening. There is certainly no reason for me to go to a movie theater anytime soon.

Pretty much all the major chains including Regal, AMC, Cinemark and Alamo Drafthouse have said they won't reopen this month. They're looking ahead to July.

And at least Regal is planning to mix in catalogue content with the limited amount of new movies coming out.

If any theatre opens this month, chances are it will be an Indie theatre.

The indie chain near where I live is planning for a soft reopening next weekend, with all the precautions you’d expect. What movies they’re showing is unknown at this time.

Tenet is moving to July 31st. Inception will play on the 17th instead to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

And WW 1984 is now October 2, 2020. I think Warner Bros. is trying to buy themselves more time to get theaters up and running and see how things go and then they will do a huge marketing push.

We're spiking with Covid-19 cases here in Texas, so let's see what happens between now and then.

Re: COVID-19 Virus -- Movie related news

Los Angeles county has yet to approve movie theatres to reopen yet. Some counties in CA have reopened their smaller theatres, but no major chain.

Regal is the 1st big chain to announce this.

The Governor of CA said yesterday in his press conference that the positive tests have remained stable and there's been no surge in hospitalizations.

If you read the link provided by Regal in that tweet, they provide the new health and safety guidelines.

The only new movie scheduled to open July 10 is Unhinged.

Re: COVID-19 Virus -- Movie related news

Lucky you all. We got a lot of stupid here in Texas, which is why we're spiking. I highly doubt new theater rules will help at this point. But I'm guessing unless the spikes are really bad, we'll see a limited few theaters open.

Possibly.

Re: COVID-19 Virus -- Movie related news

Between the planned "re-opening" and loosening of restrictions and all of the protests (BLM, anti-lockdown, and whatever rallies trump has) going on, we're probably going to see COVID-19 rates skyrocket in metropolitan areas during July and August.

It feels like there's a perfect storm brewing.

I would expect to see a lot of these dates -- both theater reopenings and release dates -- pushed back even further.

Re: COVID-19 Virus -- Movie related news

My guess is Holiday 2020 or Winter 2020-2021. That'll be about a year and about 9 months where active testing has been occurring. I'm hoping/guessing for a vaccine by then.
