Yeah, there was one scene where they made clear it was under his clothes, which were oversized.

Was that Venom (not the Spider-Man villain) that Batman injected to amp himself up to save Catwoman?

Also, is it really a Batman film if we don’t see Thomas and Martha Wayne shot for the 30th time? Anything could have happened to them!

I actually was thinking about this a little bit too. How fast is he getting in and out of the costume? Also he’s just carrying it in that backpack I assume? So if he happens to drop it he’s screwed or if part of it is sticking out of the bag accidentally and someone recognizes it his identity could be blown.

Wow. I had high hopes for this and they were absolutely met.
The two standouts for me were the score which was fucking amazing and the batmobile. That thing was fucking awesome.
I thought everyone was great in their respective roles. Excellent casting. Like most of you though, I wasn’t a huge fan of the Joker thing but maybe they’ll finally get him right this time.

Was better than the Nolan and Snyder movies but still not as good as Batman Forever and Batman and Robin.

From my review page ORBIWAN GOES TO THE MOVIES:
The Batman (PG-13) - This very different version of the Dark Knight, with emphasis on dark, hits like a leather-gloved fist and forces the audience to dodge and weave (in a good way) as Batman and the Gotham Police try to catch a serial killer.
Whew, director and writer Matthew Reeves (Cloverfield, a couple of the recent Planet of the Apes movie, and more) made a great call when insisting that Robert Patterson (of Twilight fame) take over the cowl of the Caped Crusader. Patterson’s interpretation of both Bruce Wayne and the Dark Knight comes off as soft-spoken, a skilled fighter, and an extremely intelligent and observant detective who has dedicated his life to protecting the mythical Gotham City. If I interpreted some of the dialogue and props correctly, we are actually seeing Bruce Wayne as the masked vigilante wrapping up his second year as the Dark Knight.
Be prepared, there is a distinct lack of cool-looking gizmos, and we can barely make out the details of this version of the Batmobile, though it does still have the distinctive rear flames, and it sounds ominously mighty when Batman finally jumps into the driver's seat in pursuit of the Penguin (a barely recognizable Colin Farrell).
On to a brief description of the plot: Someone is killing some of the top crime bosses in Gotham, who are usually found dead with duct tape wrapped around their heads. Lead by Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright in a pitch-perfect performance), the Gotham police scour crime scenes, many times with Batman in their midst, in a more “collaborative” but still uneasy team effort. And speaking of distrust, the distrust between Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman (another excellent portrayal by Zoe Kravitz) and Bruce/Batman dissolves as the two discover common ground, and even a bit of attraction for each other.
It is uncovered that the culprit behind the killings is none other than the Riddler, who is only seen during the first two-thirds of the movie as a online maniac in a weird-looking combat mask, and is eventually revealed maskless as actor Paul Dano in a very creepy arrest scene at a Gotham diner. Also playing a part in the dark events of this very effective film noir is Carman Falcone (John Turturro), a mayoral candidate whose hands are definitely not clean.
When the first trailers for this latest interpretation of the Dark Knight first hit YouTube and theaters, I will be honest, I was not very excited about what I was seeing. I was raised on Adam West, enjoyed the batch of Michael Keaton/George Clooney/Val Kilmer tongue-in-cheek versions with their over-the-top villains, and still think the Nolan/Bale visions set a very high bar. And let’s not forget the classic animated series during the 90s and the spin-offs including “Batman Beyond” (when are we getting a live-action version of this?!?!). However, director Reeves’ no-nonsense approach to the story and the more serious tone basically won me over. I would not complain if a sequel was announced soon. “The Batman” gets 4.5 out of 5 lightsabers from the old Jedi.
NOTES TO PARENTS (MILD SPOILERS): Definitely not for younger viewers under 13. “The Batman” is rated PG-13 for more-than-comic-book level violence, language, very disturbing scenes, and a smidge of suggestive content. There's the full spectrum of violence, including shootings, stabbings, explosions that harm primary characters, fist fights, electrocutions, etc. Riddler wraps his victims’ faces in duct tape with messages written on it. Selina is nearly strangled with a pool cue, but she escapes by scratching her attacker’s face with her long nails. Batman is shot at close range with shotguns and other weapons, but his bat suit mostly protects him from real injury. We see a dismembered thumb hanging from the chain of a USB drive. Language is typical for a PG-13 movie. The F-bomb dropped at least once, and perhaps twice. The most prominent profanity is g**d***, but other are scattered throughout the film.
MID AND AFTER-CREDIT SCENES: Before the credits role, we get to hear a conversation at Arkham between the Riddler and someone who has a distinctive Joker-like laugh. Mid-credit scene - There are no mid-credit scenes. After-credit scene - we see the word “GOODBYE” typed on an old-fashioned computer screen.

^ I'm actually glad a review mentioned that this movie is very much and old school PG-13 in that it's probably one obscenity or a single drop of blood away from an R rating. We don't get too many like this anymore, and I'm glad that despite the rating, the movie wasn't hampered or watered down in any way.

For the record, I wrote my first review in 1977 (Star Wars!) which was well received. I was in my senior year of high school. I stopped reviews when I joined the Navy in 1979. In 1995 when I was a Navy Journalist CPO, I was actually asked to create a weekly video movie review segment for Navy/Marine Corps News video program seen around the world. I did that for a couple of years, then passed it on to someone else when I transferred to a public affairs office.
I started writing reviews again in 2015 that were published in a Florida panhandle radio station newsletter even though I lived in Virginia, thanks to my brother in law. I discovered I still had the knack and passion for writing, and I decided to start posting reviews online. At this point, I am a retired Navy veteran and grandfather who has an extensive digital collection, I have been working IT for a local school system for 20 years now, I am part of volunteer staff for a group that puts together regional comic/sci-fi conventions and smaller events, and attend these events as Obi-Wan, sort of a local celebrity. And folks still read my reviews and take them seriously. 😎😎😎😎
Again, as a deep nerd and geek, I appreciate your affirmation.

Yeah, this was a very hard PG-13. We took my four-year old to Spiderman last winter, which he loved, but knew this would be too much for him despite his love for Batman (Spiderman is his fave, then Superman, then Bats). Not sure I could really show him any Batmans since Clooney, though, to be honest. Maybe Batman vs. Superman.

It's definitely a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment but a website URL is flashed on the screen.
Did a little digging and the URL is https://www.rataalada.com/, which has apparently been up since February.
This article from Collider speaks on the rewards given if the riddles on the site are solved:

Caught it last night and it was great. It was like The Crow, Se7en, Zodiac, and Fight Club rolled into one. It had this chiaroscuro almost Delicatssen/City of Lost Children grime over it. Outside of one or maybe two scenes of brief dusk/dawn "brightness" it takes place completely at night. The 4k disc will be real interesting.
I do like the tributes to Zodiac and Se7en that were just outright homages. "This is The Riddler speaking" and when they were searching his apartment and found his ledgers. It was like when they found John Doe's ledgers in Se7en. The batmobile was a beast and you could feel the heat come off of it. When Riddler's secret chatroom video was cracked, that's what reminded me of Fight Club, as he rallied his troops. Everyone was Robert Paulson and all that. He went full influencer in that scene and I got a chuckle, because the guys commenting in the chat said stuff like "we gotchu bro."
That scene towards the end when he saves the people from being shocked as he cuts the electric cable was badass. I saw it in IMAX and it was nearly sold out. I'm not sure if I'll go back to see it theatrically, but if I do, it'll be in Dolby Cinema. I only saw it in IMAX because Reeves QC'd it in IMAX theaters up until a couple of weeks ago - I had to go to the source.

I will also say there were a couple of moments that stretched credulity about a "non-super" super hero. He was flung a bit too far or was WAY too close to explosions to walk away unscathed.
