Re: U2 "Achtung Baby" Vegas shows

Wow, I just got a fraud alert for another Ticketmaster charge, this time it was for the $1000 tickets. What I'm thinking now is that they let you pick 3 separate shows to purchase tickets for, so what appears to be happening is that with the first one getting rejected, Ticketmaster simply moved on to purchasing tickets for that show for other people. When they moved to the next show that I had requested, they detected that I hadn't bought tickets yet, and went to purchased those tickets and got me the most expensive ones, and tried to purchase. My bank, even though I told them via text response to their first fraud message that it was a good charge, saw that the charge was escalating (went from $500 to $1000) and blocked this one. I called them up and hopefully the card is good to go when and if Ticketmaster goes to the third show that I selected. What a mess, but it will be interesting to see if I end up getting tickets or not. It was 3 hours between the first and second attempts, so not sure when they will move to the next show.

I got waitlisted for the shows, something I absolutely wasn’t expecting. My wife did get selected so I have to hope she’s able to go through the process and buy the tickets, but she’ll be at a doctor’s appointment at that the time they go on sale. She wishes it were me that got selected instead of her and I do as well.

Re: U2 "Achtung Baby" Vegas shows

The one nice thing about a Vegas residency as a Vegas resident is you can just wait until the “last minute” and see what the prices do. Things happen, people get sick, miss flights. You almost always can find some tickets, especially if you have 11 different dates and any of them will work for you. That’s how I scored Gaga tickets.
Of course there are exceptions to every rule. Adele tickets never got cheap.

Third attempt went through, but at the 300 level at $800 for two tickets, so not as good seats as the first two days that were rejected. Ticket resale is allowed but only at face value, but if Ticketmaster charges their usual 30% cut or whatever, you'll lose a significant amount of money and also buyers won't be able to score a discounted ticket either. The GA Floor I scored on the first try would have be a lot cheaper and a lot more fun for me.

I feel for you. A similar thing happened to me with Clapton tickets. What’s super weird is that the card used that flagged the fraud has been used many times for TM. That was a live sale so I could approve the charge before the window closed. For this sale I called the CC company to let them know about it. I lucked out and got GA tickets. I think it helped that I went for the midweek show.

Fan-to-Fan sales are fee free. I believe only GA are restricted to face value. Everything else is a scalper’s paradise. The prices on the resell sites are already nuts.

Okay, that's good to know. I'm not super happy with the seats that I got, especially compared to the two rejected shows that I could have gotten, but I'm not looking to make money if I choose to resell them later, but I didn't really want to lose a ton either. I shouldn't have bothered putting the $400 ticket as an option since I knew I'd be disappointed with the location compared to the slightly more expensive $500 location or the much cheaper GA floor. But I'm one that typically tries for rail at every show that I attend.

Will Larry be back on drums for the later added shows?

No, he's out for the entire show no matter how long it runs.

Re: U2 "Achtung Baby" Vegas shows

Okay after some struggles my wife was able to snag tickets for the last announced date 10/25, a Wednesday (sigh) in Sec 202, row 11.
She said "That's all the way over on the side!" to which I replied "I don't think it matters since it's a sphere".
We shall see.

Interesting floor plan in that it seems... normal.
I assumed the sphere's stage would be in-the-round

Re: U2 "Achtung Baby" Vegas shows

Five more dates got added 10/27 & 10/28, 1/1, 11/3 & 4. I got a text to come off the waitlist.
Thought about buying Friday or Saturday tickets instead, but since seats weren't any better just decided to pass.

Re: U2 "Achtung Baby" Vegas shows

I bombed out. None of my requests were filled (Ultra fan club member here), never got verified fan. There are plenty of tickets available, just at platinum pricing or locked up in hotel packages.

I did get the email above, so we will see.

Re: U2 "Achtung Baby" Vegas shows

So sorry you guys didn't get tickets. I figured it wouldn't be that hard once I got ticket access off the Verified Fan Waitlist. But I wouldn't worry, it looks like U2 is into this venue for a truly extended residency (like Lady Gaga or Bruno Mars at the Park Theater). It's a great situation for them -- a state of the art venue, all the attention and revenue of a full tour without actually touring. And this show is designed specifically for this venue. As Bono says in this feature below "We're in this for the long haul. You're going to have a hard time getting me out. "
I encourage everyone to watch this 26 minute video. Preview of the new Sphere with Bono and Edge. The venue is so incredibly cutting edge. Best sound in the world. Live Atmos mixing for the first time ever. Wall to Wall video projection. I am very psyched for the show. It's going to be amazing.

Re: U2 "Achtung Baby" Vegas shows

Nice, I put up my October tickets on Stubhub for a reasonable price. Hopefully the ticketmaster transfer works okay for this show, although it says they won't pay until after the show ends to make sure the buyer has no problems. Mid December would work much better for me to make a Vegas trip since I have a cruise in October.

Re: U2 "Achtung Baby" Vegas shows

Still no dates in most of November including the Grand Prix weekend which was the big event that was supposed to coincide with the opening of the Sphere. That is so weird.

Don't you want to make sure you get December tickets first?

How do you know? Confirmations don’t go out until the 17th for Fan Club members.

Good point, but I figured I better get it in earlier the better. The tickets sold within the hour. I probably could have asked for a lot more, but I still cleared $600 more than I paid.

I just put in my request for the December shows. They removed the option to get the good $500 first level seats this request round, so yeah, a little disappointing. I put in for $267 GA floor which would still be better location and price point than the $400 seats that I sold.
