Well, i suppose this problem is becoming more widespread with DDD. I have used them quite a bit over the past year, and always used free shipping. My DVD's always arrived within 3-7 days of shipment (I live in Tennessee). However, my last order was 'shipped' 11 days ago and counting, and from the looks of this thread, it is going to be awhile longer.

I'm not sure if the blame goes to USPS, or DDD. Perhaps they aren't giving a TRUE ship date? At any rate, expedited shipping with them is not an option for me, because I have my items shipped to my PO box, and DDD will not specify whether they will use priority mail or UPS. I am not ABOUT to trust they will notice it is a PO box and refrain from using UPS due to that fact! So, my business will go elsewhere from here on out.

Just as a side note....I ordered a DVD from DVD Empire which was shipped on 6/27 using standard shipping. I received it FOUR days later on 7/1!!! Curious, isn't it??

Wait, hold the phone.....let me understand this.....you ordered from DEEPDISCOUNTDVD in the late afternoon, and they shipped it the SAME DAY??? I have never known of them to ever ship earlier than the next day. And then you received it media mail in THREE days, and you live in freakin NEVADA???? They must have REALLY goofed up with you! Well, I certainly wouldn't expect that kind of service on the next order if I were you. You might find yourself somehwhat disappointed.

I get my orders between 5-10 business days after they are shipped.....I've ordered from DDD.com for 2 years now without one problem. If you don't like them, I suggest just moving to amaazon.com. This whining sounds like it should be directed at the post office and not ddd.com

When was the last time you ordered from them??? Like I said, my orders use to be VERY prompt, until this most recent one. And true, it might be the post office. Or it might be DDD not shipping when they say they do. I will be sure to check the postal label when the DVD arrives, believe me.

I posted here not to whine, but to acknowledge that the delays are affecting me too. Also, I would be more likely to point my finger at the post office if 1)my orders always took this long and 2)other online retailers also took this long with the same shipment method. Neither appiles.

Hey again! Well, how's this for odd. I received WHAT'S UP TIGER LILLY? today in the mail from DDD, but still no CHOBITS. Here is the shipping information that I got from them:

Shipped on 07/07/03

Order Number: *******
Shipping Method: 5 - 10 BUSINESS DAY DELIVERY
Estimated Arrival date: 7/16/03 - 7/21/03
Quantity Item # Description Price
1 PIO011863 DVD : CHOBITS-V.03 DARKNESS DESCENDS $ 22.31

Shipped on 07/12/03

Order Number: *******
Shipping Method: 5 - 10 BUSINESS DAY DELIVERY
Estimated Arrival date: 7/21/03 - 7/26/03
Quantity Item # Description Price
1 IMA001923 DVD : WHAT'S UP TIGER LILY $ 14.62

Odds are, the CHOBITS disc shows up Monday. I also have been a steady customer for DDD and I'm just curious if anyone has had the same experience and if they think it's the fault of USPS.

Thanks,

Brian

Exactly! I can't stand it when people come into a thread and say "Stop whining". If this were any other group, I could see where maybe that would apply. But this is the shopping discussion store forum. For the purpose of discussing your shopping experiences. And clearly, DDD's service has gone south as of late. I had nothing but great experiences (and raved about them) until my last few orders. I never even received my last one (that I ordered early June). It may very well be the post office's fault. But you know what? DDD has an obligation to their customers to let them know that it could take up to a month to receive items via media mail.

Also, I would still shop at DDD. But will never choose Media Mail again. If they screw up on any other order where I do pay shipping, I'm moving on.

I'm an old customer of DDD with a long order history ( about 150+ ) discs and no problems in the past . Packs usually arrive about a month after shipping , I would gladly accept FREE shipping option even it meant longer since I order so many movies .

Lately I noticed some delay in shipping times and some of the shipped orders are way over due ( more then a month ) but I still trust them due to old times sake and hope they will come thorugh .. ( they better since its like 20 discs total already paid )

What's new is the lack of email response , I'm still waiting for a reply for a promised pricematch refund 3 months ago !!! So I don't even bother to ask whats going with those late orders ...

Hell, I have been waiting a week already just for them to price match themselves. I am starting to wonder if they have a temp doing customer service that comes in on the third monday of every other month when the moon is full and an eclipse is on the horizon.....................

Okay this is off-topic, but how do you cancel an order from DDD? I have two discs that come out the 29th on order, but they haven't shipped yet, so at this rate it's gonna be like next Saturday before I get my stuff. I'd rather just cancel the order and hope Best Buy gets Dead and Buried and Blood Feast 2 in.

Either an email or a phone call will work. At the rate they've been going, I would suggest the latter instead of the former.

Another DDD gripe. I ordered the Lion's Gate version of "The Red Violin" recently from them (which I later learned later had a subtitle problem). When I got mine, and confirmed mine was defective too, I first contacted Lion's Gate. Three times. And no one responded. Then I started contacting DDD. No one has responded to my e-mails there either. All I want is either a freakin' corrected copy. Or the Universal release of the movie. Which doesn't have any problems. Customer service, what the hell happened to it!??

Dear DeepDiscountDVD.com Customers,

I want to apologize for the poor service that you have received as of late at DeepDiscountDVD.com.

We are experiencing an unseasonably high volume of orders and customer service inquiries that have put us behind in responding to emails. We have added staff to address these issues and all of your concerns should be addressed shortly. Again, I apologize for the delay but customer service will address each of your issues directly.

We were also recently made aware of an error on the part of our international carrier that caused them to hold some orders for an extended period of time. We have addressed this issue and it will not occur in the future and all international delivery times are now be back to normal.

Many of you have contacted me directly with your concerns and I appreciate that. All of us at DeepDiscountDVD.com respect and encourage your comments regarding our performance and will work hard to return our service levels to the excellent standards that you expect and deserve.

Again, I do apologize for any inconveniences that we may have caused you and can assure you that we are working diligently to correct these issues.

Thank you for your business and we look forward to better serving you in the future.

Sincerely,
David Barker

Well, I am just as happy to point out the good as well as the bad. So, here are some good comments:

*I did receive a nice e-mail this afternoon from Customer Service, similar to the message posted above by David.
*Whenever I have given up on on waiting on e-mail and actually called their CS by phone (which I don't like having to), they have been pretty quick and helpful at solving my problems. So, if it is important, JUST CALL!!! (I know we shouldn't have to, but it really isn't that difficult).
*In the last week, two of my orders arrived within 10 days of shipping.....so maybe they are getting the shipment problem figured out (I never believed the theory about it being USPS).
*AND....MOST IMPORTANT.....they still offer some of the best deals available on DVDs.

Thanks for your participation on the forum David, and I sincerely hope your shipping and customer service issues improve in the near future. Good luck!!

Anyone know how to cancel preorders from them? I have two DVDs on order that come out the 29th that haven't shipped yet, so I wanted to just cancel them and go and pick them up so I won't have to wait a week after the release date to get my movies. I tried email, but no response, should I call them up?

Here are my two cents. I placed an order with them late on Thursday July 17th. It shipped on Monday the 21st (using media mail) and arrived in Texas today, Saturday the 26th.

I've had my delivery problems with DDD as well.

I pre-ordered THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY about 2 months early. The disc finally arrived 8 days AFTER street date (it took 11 business days to arrive). I usually receive their discs 3-4 days after they ship. I live one state over.

There were several other discs that were shipped AFTER Mary, but arrived before that title. I know that the USPS Media Mail service is the main culprit for these delays, but not always (see below).

I pre-ordered NICHOLAS NICKLEBY 2 months before street date (July 22). When I called to inquire about the delay last Monday they said they arrived late and were in "the warehouse."

I finally got my email confirmation that they were shipped two days later--on Wed. Here it is the Saturday AFTER street date, and I still haven't received this title.

Media Mail is one cause of Deep Discount's delays. But you also have to recognize that DDD is not the promptest to ship out titles--especially ones ordered months before. I really don't insist that my orders arrive on street date, but a week later seems out-of line when I pre-order months before.

Media mail can be slow, but I don't know why I can get packages from Amazon in 4 days via media mail, or things off Ebay from all over the country in a week, yet DDD takes forever. I don't know if anyone has ever ordered books from Alibris.com, but that takes forever as well. After 10 years of online shopping, I can honestly say that DDD and Alibris always take forever with media mail to reach my house.

I can tell you why. It is because they do not actually turn the package over to the USPS on the day they have told you they "ship."

I am like you - EVERY other place that I have done business with via media mail can arrive to me from across the country in no more than 7 postal days.

Can any international customers post their experiences?
Damn! I still have not receive my package til this day, I have
emailed them several times already. All DDD says is the wait a
few more days and check the customs and post office.

Just how many more days do I have to wait??!? And I have
checked with customs and post office, both have not
hold any packages meant for me.

I am not ordering from them again until I get that package.
Will keep u guys posted when I do receive them.

Any international customers with the same problems as mine?

The Gangs of New York disc that was supposedly shipped on the 17th of June, never showed up. I called DDDD and they credited my card immediately.

I too have been a long time customer with well over 150 titles purchased through them.

The extremely long waiting period and the lack of customer service (email) help have caused me to move over to Amazon where I'm getting my orders the day of release or a little earlier.

I might add that I emailed Deepdiscount about the delays for several weeks, long after the discs should have been received and got no response whatsoever.

While I appreciate their quick resolution in crediting my card as quickly as they did, their lack of good customer care prior to my phone call definately colored my future dealings with them.

As a result, I'm no longer shopping @ their site. It really does remind me of dvdexpress and all the crap "we" went through as they were on their way to bankruptcy.--Not saying that Deep discount is bankrupt but, they sure are'nt meeting the needs of some of their customers.
