I don't know if that is always going to be the case. The one where the guy proposes to his Armenian girlfriend was actually a TON of filler (a lot of pointless scenes and interviews with friends?) that could easily have been eliminated to tighten it up to a 30 min show. Besides that, NBC obviously has the rights to use it and will get better ratings showing THAT to folks who don't get BRAVO rather than rerun the horrendous Good Morning, Miami yet AGAIN.

I hated it the one time I saw it on NBC. It really does work better as a one hour show. More Carson!

I thought Vince was kind of dull, at least the FAB 5 livened up the show a tad, not the best episode.

I agree Giles. Last night's episode almost felt like they'd halved the budget for the straight man transformation.

And Carson's "fashion" choices were questionable, at best. Flocked "effing" jeans? Puh-lease. That's fashion for teenage girls, not an "egg-shaped" middle-aged wannabe-crooner.

Next week's episode looks like a bear nightmare. Waxing that man's back is a crime - a CRIME, I say!!!

grunter cherishes each and every one of the three or four stray hairs he has on his back.

NBC sees the light!

NBC TO PRESENT BRAVO’S ‘QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY’ IN ITS ORIGINAL ONE-HOUR FORMAT ON AUGUST 14 AT 10:00 P.M.

BURBANK, CA - August 6, 2003 – NBC will present a full-hour of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” on August 14 (10-11 p.m. ET) instead of the previously scheduled 30- minute version at 9:30 p.m. (ET), it was announced today by Jeff Zucker, President, NBC Entertainment. Later that night, the “Fab Five” will appear on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” for the first of two nights, to make over the show and its host.

“We tested the waters with a 30-minute version of ‘Queer Eye’ on NBC a few weeks ago and it worked extremely well as a promotional platform,” said Zucker. “We wanted to offer this exposure again but keep it in its original format so viewers can have a full ‘Queer Eye’ experience.”

The NBC prime time lineup for Thursday, August 14 will be as follows:

8:00 p.m. Friends: The One with The Lottery
8:30 p.m. Scrubs: My Drama Queen
9:00 - 10:00 p.m. Will & Grace: Marry Me a Little, Marry Me a Little More
10:00 - 11:00 p.m. Queer Eye for the Straight Guy

The August 14 “Queer Eye” episode will be the series’ fourth, which aired on Bravo on July 29 (9-10 p.m. ET). It features straight guy John Bargeman who is preparing to propose to his girlfriend.

Also on August 14, the Fab Five will appear on “The Tonight Show” (11:35 p.m.-12:35 a.m. ET) to discuss their show and they will return for a second appearance on Friday, August 15 to reveal a “Queer Eye” infused “Tonight Show.”

They played audio clips today, it was funny and sad .

funny you should mention Artie Lang, ya know he is my BF's cousin. (I'm not joking)

Did anyone else watch the Fab 5 (it was mostly Carson and Kyan)on Howard Stern's E! Channel show last night? They did a make over on Artie. He got really drunk and started screaming "Which one of you want to f' me?" It got a little uncomfortable and Carson mentioned it wasn't fun anymore. Still it was funny...

tonight's episode was a hoot:

1) even though the two had been dating for awhile, the whole restaurant scene seemed like a first date experience. Seeing Andrew fiddle with the Lobster was rather tragic (and pretty funny)

2) what is up with straight guys and shaving, jeez it makes me wince to see them shredding up their faces.

OMG! How many straight men DIE from shaving each year? These guys are ridiculous. I have recently become amazed at the number of guys who DON'T know to shave after they shower. Didn't your father teach you ANYTHING?!

NEXT WEEK - Kyan in black bikini underwear.

<---------- still reeling from the shock of watching all that marvelous back hair be ripped into oblivion.

The horror. The horror.

Woofiest straight guy of the bunch thus far, however . . . much, much more lickable before they shaved him down to 9 year old girl status.

*shudder*

Ok, I don't get it. I tried shaving after a shower before. Hurts like hell. I tried shaving with the grain. Again, hurts like hell.

I shave IN the shower myself. I rotate from electric wet-dry shaver to blade every year or so. The electric is convenient, but doesn't get smooth enough all the time.

I shave against the grain (up), too, because shaving with it doesn't cut anywhere near smooth enough. People's beards are just different, I suppose.

Not that anyone cares but I shave in the shower (with a fog-free mirror), first with the grain to get it LOOKING smooth and then against the grain to get it FEELING smooth.

Spoiler:
Oh, and I haven't tried waxing my back yet. It's got some hairy patches on it.

You do have to change the BLADE every so often too. Actually the razor and shaving cream/lotion you use can have different results depending on the courseness of your beard and your skin type.

If this problem is a severe as you claim, I would start by consulting a specialist (Crabtree & Evelyn or Aveda) for a decent shaving product. Barring that, try a high-end disposable razor like Gillette Mach 3, a sensitive skin formula shaving gel (the orange version of Edge) and some aftershave lotion to protect your skin if it still burns.

Since I don't have Bravo, I have yet to see this, but I just watched the first ten minutes on NBC, and all I can say is that it was pretty damn funny - much funnier than a lot of crap on tv this summer.

I was surprised that NBC didn't edit this for network play.

Why did Carson keep making fun of his penis size? Doesn't he understand that thin condoms are not for the size of the penis, but the thickness of the latex or whatever the condom is made out of? It seems like he should know that.

Sizing up the boys...

Carson is the funniest of the bunch and most flamboyant. Some of his remarks border on an R rating.

Thom does all the work and makes the biggest impressions with his home makeovers.

Jai...he has the least to do.

Kyan is the best looking. He's also really into manicures.

Ted...ho-hum.

Great concept for a show.
