The original TV spot for Kubrick's movie verion of the Shining. I think I was around 9 or 10 years old, and I had nightmares about it. Especially the part where Jack slowly comes into the camera's POV, straightening up from a crouched postion.
Okay...maybe I still find it creepy, at the very least.![Big Grin](/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Scared the crap out of me then and would probably frak me out if I saw it again today..........what do you mean my times up, I just got here : )

Watching this at age 19, and having never seen the film and being a bit of a cynic... this still scares me.
I'll have trouble sleeping tonight.

Mine was similar to the "Chiller Theatre" I cant remember if it was an 80's opening to HBO or Cinemax, but it had some creepy music, and showed quick images of different types of movies. Horror, was this slimy hand slowly coming out of the ground. Scared the unholy fuck out of me.

Not a commercial but Big Marge from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. It was years before I watched it again.
Tell them Big Marge sent you. Agghhhhhhh.

I remember there was an ad in the 70s by PETA or some other similar organization that was against the clubbing of baby seals for their furs. It showed a cute, helpless baby seal in the snow and then the "hunters" came along and clubbed it to death. I had to leave the room every time that aired.

Anti-drug ad from the early 90's. This one had a drug dealer talking directly to the camera walking in and out of the shadows. At the end of the commerical he steps into the light and he's a big snake-man-scare the shit out of unsuspecting viewer-thing. I only saw it once(and that was during Beverly Hills 90210.....my girlfriend was watching it.....I wouldn't be watching it you see........really), but that was more than enough.

Not a commercial, but I'm told that when I was little whenever the Twilight Zone theme came on I would run screaming to the closet.

There is a Volkswagon Jetta commercial out now that has people in it in believeable casual conversations. Then out of the blue, someone runs into them at a pretty hard pace. Scares the crap out of me everytime...and makes me want to buy a Jetta.

You can see them at http://www.vw.com/vwlife/commercial.html. "Like" and "Movie" are two with the above theme.

Not a commercial, but the logog for DIC animation creeped the shit out of me when I saw it on a Mario Bros. Super Show tape. It's the one with the creepy choir in the background as we zoom out the window of a boy's bedroom toward the DIC logo. The new music they commissioned for it didn't lower the creepiness any.
You can see it here (along with other DIC logos):

Also the old United Artists logo that would play before some Rocky films...creepy music.
And last but not least, the Unsolved Mysteries theme music.
