right, dave even said that the song hit home for him, and obviously for INXS, before he said it didn't fit as an INXS song.
also, is it me, or did Jordis forget the "of the world" line in "We are the Champions"? I could swear that line is in there after the last "We are the Champions" line.

I still miss Jessica. I've seen her band (Cover Gurl) a few times here and have been able to talk to her a couple times. Sweet girl and even hotter and cuter in person.

LOL, I didn't realize JD was doing an INXS song. Funny. I must have missed that while FF at one point with my Tivo. I would have thought the original song Marty did fit INXS more than even INXS' own song. Goes to show how little I've cared for INXS post '87 and how my opinion on this means squat

DVD Josh - I chuckled throughout your entire post. Accurate and funny. Thanks.
I agree with the convential wisdom stated here - it's either MiG or Jordis going home tonight.
I didn't like Marty's lyrics much, but it was "catchy."
I thought Jordis' original was actually pretty good. And can I just say "ENOUGH QUEEN." I'm a bit bored with all the covers at this point. Has anyone else found their enthusiasm waning for this show. Maybe I'm just sick of Dave Navarro (who really needs to zip it at this point). And besides, he's clearly biased toward Marty. Which is fine, but don't try to come off objective. He's like the Paula Abdul of Rockstar.
MiG's original was bland.
I thought the megaphone thing was kind of cool on JD's part and I think he went a long way in recovering his faltering image with the band. I also liked that he didn't give any intro to his original. He does have a good sense of showmanship.
Suzie did a very respectable job with Bonnie Raitt (I thought it was miles better than Deanna's attempt), but her original was boring.
And Ty...oops. That's right. A racist voting public booted him last week.
I'm thinking either Marty or JD gets this gig.

It was the song JD wrote during their "Songwriting Collaboration" clinic. They had to write lyrics and melody over a musical track that INXS had laid down.
personally, i liked "STOP! GO!" better .

Well, I must finally admit it. . .while MiG had been my favorite from the beginning with J.D. close behind, I am crossing over completely to the J.D. bandwagon. MiG's thin voice, cliched moves and sappy sentiments just have begun to irk me, though he seems like the sweetest guy. J.D. is ALWAYS mesmerizing and entertaining, though he makes me nervous every performance -- he could be either brilliant or implode. But I LIKE that sense of danger. I've been watching and rewatching J.D.'s performances from the beginning, and nobody else compels me to do so. I DO also like Marty a lot, though, especially when he brings out his softer side as a counterpoint to the angst.
Jordis should definitely be going home tonight.

MIg's got to hit the bricks, but I'm afraid Jordis was so bad, MiG might slither past either Marty or JD and then, whatever...
I could have sworn I heard Jordis singing, "We are the Champion" and then after the song, I thought I heard her say it. Must of not heard correctly.

Jordis should and will be gone tonight. She is a clear cut below the others as a performer and most as a singer.
Suzie may make it to the final three, but she has the least chance to win. She is vocally capable, but lacking in stage presence in this genre. Sorry ladies, but there are still some places you don't belong. I could see a Suzie fronting INXS before the Rolling Stones, but it would be all wrong for the same reasons. If the band, INXS, goes the novelty route she has a shot. Anything is possible.
I still give Mig the slight nod over JD, but JD is keeping it close. JD is a much better stage performer, even if he's vocally and personally unpredictable at times. I think with practice and rehearsal with the band over the long haul JD would be a better front man than Mig. JD seems to have a better feel for writing and arranging, but does the band want a real collaborator? Or just a front man? JD seems to want it more, and maybe the band will look favorably on that. If he had more vocal range, he would be the favorite to win.
The girls swoon over Mig's elfish looks, and there is the Aussie tie-in, vocal superiority, and the thought that they may not abandon the ringer very easily. So I still give the nod to Mig over JD, but it's close. Also, Mig would be putty in the band's hands.
Marty is my favorite, but not by much. He has the vocals, the stage presence, the look, most everything. But his vocal styling is still not in the style of the band, INXS. I just can't hear him singing "New sensation!" as we hear incessantly in the intro. He seems hesitant to change, and may feel that fronting another band where he can creatively be himself as well as successful (especially with the help of exposure from the show) may work better for him. In other words, the band, INXS, may need Marty more than Marty needs the band, INXS. If they believe this too, they would be foolish to choose him.
Bottom lines: Which front person would I be most willing to pay to see perform with the band? Marty, JD, Mig, Suzie, and Jordis, in that order.
What order do I think they will finish? Mig, Marty, Suzie, JD, Jordis, in that order. The only thing I've changed in my predictions is that I have Marty creeping up to second from third. I think he is too good to drop before Suzie, even though you know they want an attractive woman up there to the end to help with ratings.

Well, as big of a fan of Jordis as I was (am?) it was her time to go and she felt it.
Suzie has about 75% of what it takes to do the job. Voice, but no presence.
JD has about 82%: presence when he dials down the asshattery (as in both performances tonight) and some of the voice but needs work
Marty has about 90%: Presence and some of the voice but also needs some work, plus a collaborative vibe and the right pop/rock sense.
Mig has about 20%: Pecs. Not much else.

Well, not really, but I thought Jordis was pretty weak and Mig did a good job with Hard to Handle.
1) Suzie
2) Mig
3) Marty (zzzzzzzzzz)
4) Jordis (Dave Navarro's comment was spot on)
5) JD (I don't mind him making changes, but he took out the bass line!)
I didn't think much of the originals. Marty's and JD's were good, and Suzie's was alright. Jordis sounded good but the song was weak, and Mig's was just plain bad.
I haven't gotten to watch tonight's yet, but Jordis would've been my choice based on last night's show.

I think any of the four could do the job. There isn't a whole lot that seperates them at this point. I think Mig and JD are just a bit too cheesy. They could work with Mig to fix that, but JD would probably be a pain in the ass.

Very shocked that Mig wasn't in the bottom three. I hope it doesn't come down to that if he never gets there. Seeing him up there with INXS--not excatly great...
Well I guess Jordis had to go. Such an odd bird, hot one minute, strange the next..

Dumbest comment of the night:
JD: "Marty, how does it feel knowing that you will have the first hit single from a reality show?"
Uh, JD, ever heard of a show called American Idol?

If the band, INXS really wants a return to relevence then I think they should go with Suzie. Mig is to bland, Marty a little to generic and JD annoys everyone and it won't be long until he does it to the band also.
Suzie has a great voice is easy on the eyes and could probqably get me to buy the next INXS album.

I loved Jordis at the beginning but also believe it was her time to go. She just isn't a very good Karoake singer. She has her own style and it's hard for her to sing in other ways. It's not a bad thing though. I agree that she is a star just waiting to happen. I don't know who is voting for Suzie. I really don't. If this was on the radio, I'd understand it because she has a great voice. But her stage presence and her overall image is just bleh. Did you see her last night when she was dancing next to the guitar player. It's just uncomfortable when she's on stage. I still think she'd be great on American Idol(if she's the right age, not sure). She isn't a Rock Star. Does she have any other schtick besides poor ole Suzie McNeal? I've been thinking for a while that JD should win this if not for his problems off the stage. I think he has dialed that back and INXS may pick him. I think its down to Marty or JD. I predict JD wins this.

it's "Sweet" suzie. ![Smilie](/images/smilies/smile.gif)
MiG not being in the bottom 3 was surprising.
But when you think about it:
US Population - 295,734,134 (according to the first hit on Google)
Australia Population - 20,090,437
UK Population - 60,441,457
So obviously not everyone in these countries watches the show, has internet access, etc. but basically, this is just my drawn-out way of saying that MiG is probably the vote of choice for most australians (who are watching the show) and those in the UK, not to mention the rest of Europe.
The other rockers spilt the vote of North America. it's not like JD is gettign all of Canada, since Suzie is Candaian, too.
so, i was surprised at first that MiG wasn't in the bottom 3, but after thinking about it, it's no surprise at all.

I was more shocked that Marty did not get the encore. I hope they let him sing his song again before the run is over.
After everyone did the new Inxs song, I think they need to have JD and Suzie as their singers. They sounded great together on that song, especially at the end when Suzie was going off.
