Sawyer - his father commited suicide
Hurley - grandfather had heart attack (was his father even in his flashbacks?)
Shannon/Boone - again, no father figure...right?
Locke - father used Locke for his transplant - maybe we'll see his ultimate demise yet.
Walt - separated until just before flight 815
Sun - father wrecked her marriage by forcing/bribing Jin into uncomfotable roles.
Jin - denounced his lifestyle as a fisherman and left home

There was nothing of Daddy Austen saying that he knew Kate had murder in heart as a kid. It was more that he took a shot at her at that moment when they were talking.

I agree with your disagreement, I think it was the original/only computer.
But, didn't the timer stop counting down? I think thats why Walt or someone, was able to get a message through.
Very good episode.

Even if Sawyer softens up, it would seem like he would still be like every bad guy relationship she's ever been in, which probably all goes back to having the abusive, dad.

Austen and Mom marry.
Austen goes to Korea.
Mom has affair with Drunk and has Kate.
Austen returns and agrees to raise Kate.
After 5 years, Austen decides he's had enough and leaves Kate behind, somehow knowing that this 5 year old has "murder in her heart" and will one day kill her biological father.
Mom marries Drunk.
And the reason Kate killed Drunk was because once she found out she had drunken wifebeater blood in her, she decided her life was over?

I'm still stuck on "who cut the film?" Could it have been the others, hoping they'd use the PC for internet chat, or maybe an island blog? (OH..I also say it definitely was the main PC as well.)
It sure feels like the writers put in a lil bit for us internet posters. And it usually is Hurley who is involved. Like "didn't see that coming, on island XX days and hasn't lost weight?" Also...we mentioned Jin's bracelet and BAM!..it's off a week or two later. (We know not to mistake coincidence...)

So, why would he think Kate has one? There's still something that's missing here and that's why I think the motivation seems ludicrous. So, even though I know a lot of people don't like Kate's flashbacks, I think we'll still get at least one more to get the whole story.
