I really wish Joss would make either some kind of miniseries or even motion picture for Angel. Just to see how it all ended up. Even a Spike movie would be flippin' sweet.
Though I loved the Angel finale, I would have loved to have seen a movie tying up loose ends.
As far as a Spike movie, though I enjoy him as a secondary character I tend to think he has become the Fonzie of the Buffy-verse.
Would love to see years down the line a Buffy Angel movie made but who knows if that will ever happen.

Oooh, nice. Here's hoping she has more courage than Charisma and does the full frontal.

I just saw the pics of Mercedes (she's on the cover) and can report that she...almost...does the full frontal. There's one pic where that area is in shadow.

Just finished Angel Season 5. That finale was devastating, and IMO way better than the Buffy series finale (which I liked quite a bit).

Spoiler:
So let me get this straight...

The big bad is killing all potential slayers.

So let's get all the remaining potential slayers under Buffy's roof to protect them.

Willow does a spell that makes all potential slayers into slayers, and suddenly there's an asston of women out there getting superpowers... why weren't they worth killing or protecting?

Baaaaaad writing.

Spoiler:
Neither side got all the potential slayers, just as many as each side could find. The slayers even do a spell later in the season and find a potential right under their noses.

For both sides, the potentials that had been identified and trained by the Watchers Council were the most important. After that, girls who are closest to Buffy's age, or her age when she became The Slayer were next. A potential seems to need to be of a certain age to become The Slayer; there's no 80-year-old potentials, even though it holds to reason that some girls who were potentials at one point go old without ever being selected.

With the final spell, I think a lot of the undiscovered girls were much younger than the age of the typical Slayer, and perhaps wouldn't be identified by the typical methods.

When I first saw the series finale, it didn't ever bother me that they showed undiscovered potentials. I think with the way the series presented the potentials the ending always made sense to me.

Spoiler:
Remember; the First wasn't able to identify potentials itself; it was up to Caleb and the Bringers to use magick to identify them and, just like Willow or the coven in England, that was a one-at-a time process.

What I could never understand was
Spoiler:
why Caleb didn't try and blow up Buffy's house (like he did with the Wacher's Council) when she wasn't there. The First was able to do a fair amount of physical damage in 'Conversation With Dead People', why did it only do that once? At the time, I thought it was a big deal that Buffy's presence was the only thing protecting the potentials, but the First didn't seem to care whether the girls were alone or not.

Exactly. That's one of the things that REALLY bugged me about the whole First storyline. This supposed "source of all evil" really didn't seem to be all that interested in actually carrying out its plans. If the Bringers had access to all those explosives (the ones used against Faith and the potentials in the sewer), why not just have the bringers attack Buffy's house when everybody's asleep?

Or after their defeat in Dirty Girls, Caleb knocks Buffy out at the high school, then doesn't actually do anything else. With one slayer down (and Caleb being more than a match for either of them), he could have easily just waltzed on over to Buffy's place and done some serious damage.

There were all those potentials hanging around, you'd think that the show's creators would have offed a few of them here and there to really show us how much of a threat the First was, instead we were just told over and over how much danger they were in, and aside from the fight in Dirty Girls, we never really saw any proof of it.

I think the biggest problem with season seven was

Spoiler:
That what "The First" was doing was never really explained.

If you read between the lines, it sort of looks like the FE is trying to finish off the slayer line; after which the Turok-Han (super prehistoric vampires) will be able to return to Earth.

One major plot hole is Faith.

See, Buffy isn't the slayer anymore. If she dies, nobody gets called. Faith needs to die in order for a new slayer to be called. They should've killed Buffy and kept Faith locked safely away in prison while they ran around killed the rest of the potentials.

Yeah season seven (along with six) were lazily written with many poor decisions made as to the direction of the show.

See, this is where I get confused. (Though I do love how the season starts off with Buffy not even bothering to care who left the amulet in the bathroom, or even why - foreshadowing how the she just decides to take out the Hellmouth without caring about the details behind the First's plans beforehand) The First claims that it will become corporeal when its armies outnumber the humans. Assuming it's not just lying, then a> why focus on potentials and not just kill off as many people as possible everywhere? b> how will outnumbering cause it to become corporeal? much like the rules regarding the Seal of Danzalthaar, I don't think it's necessary for the Scoobies to know them, but it would have been nice to fill the audience in and c> how are the Turok-Hans being created, anyway? And from what? At first, when they bled Spike, I thought it needed vampire blood to create vampires. But then just any old blood would do. And that was just to open the seal, not create what came out from it.

All I really needed was just one episode in the spirit of 'Get It Done', where the mythology of the Seal (hey, we've seen the Hellmouth opened twice before, and neither time did it look anything like what happens here.) was explained. I was REALLY hoping that 'Storyteller' was gonna fulfill that requirement, but all we got was that a predatory act was required to activate it and tears (????!!!????) would "close" it. And, by "close", I mean that it's still apparently open again later for more to emerge.

Sorry to bring up a sore point but did the mods ever rescue those threads. I'm currently on Season 5 (and loving it) but would like to read through that thread again if possible.

Hey guys,
I'm thinking of getting into Buffy & Angel due to all these recommendations.
I know Angel started during Buffy's run, is there a timeline or something I should follow? For example, if Angel started during Buffy Season 5 should I watch them in tandem? Thanks!

Angel started as Buffy Season 4 was starting.

Here's a viewing order that I stole from http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/.../t-121242.html

BtVS-- The Freshman 401--This and AtS 101 take place at the same time, but this is the order Joss intended.
AtS--City of 101
AtS--Lonely Heart 102
BtVS--Living Conditions 402
BtVS--The Harsh Light of Day 403--This and AtS 103 are the first real cross-over
AtS--In the Dark 103
AtS--I fall to pieces 104
BtVS--Fear,Itself 404-- Haloween
BtVS--Beer Bad 405
BtVS--Wild at Heart 406
BtVS--The Initiative 407
AtS--RM W/A VU 105
AtS--Sense and Sensitivity 106
AtS--The Bachelor Party 107--107,408 and 108 are the second crossover set
BtVS--Pangs 408--Thanksgiving
AtS--I will Remember you 108
BtVS--Something Blue 409
BtVS--Hush 410--410 and 411 take place back to back
BtVS--Doomed 411
AtS--Hero 109
AtS--Parting Gifts 110
AtS--Somnamulist 111
BtVS -- A new Man 412
AtS --Expecting 112
AtS -- She 113
BtVS The I in Team 413 -- 413 and 414 take place back to back
BtVS Goodbye Iowa 414
AtS --I’ve Got you under my Skin 114
AtS -- The Prodigal 115
BtVS --This year’s Girl 415 415 and 416 are back to back
BtVS -- Who are you 416
BtVS -- Superstar 417
AtS -- The Ring 116
AtS -- Eternity 117
BtVS -- Where the Wild Things Are 418
BtVS -- New Moon Rising 419
AtS -- Five by Five 118 118-422 are nearly back to back
AtS -- Sanctuary 119
BtVS -- The Yoko Factor 420
BtVS -- Primeval 421
BtVS -- Restless 422
AtS -- War Zone 120
AtS -- Blind Date 121
AtS -- To Shanshu in LA 122

This is somewhat arbitrary, but keeps the story intact and minimzes DVD changing.
Angel 2-3 and Buffy 5-6 are completely independent of each other. There's some crossover in Angel Season 4 and Buffy Season 7, but that's a little harder to put in a consistent order that doesn't goof up the pacing -- I'd actually recommend watching all of Angel Season 4 before watching Buffy Season 7.

No problem. Enjoy the show. Word of caution -- while Buffy starts out pretty good, IMO it doesn't become a great show until midway through the second season (Buffy Season 1 is a 13-episode season).

Angel, I think, also takes a full season to hit its stride, but I think a lot of people disagree with me on that.

Once each of the shows starts going, though, they are fantastic -- particularly Angel.

Agreed...except I always preferred Buffy over Angel...if I was forced to choose in some kind of Sophie's choice kind of way. But after re-watching both shows recently I can say that Buffy, while amazing did have some serious pacing and continuity problems season 6 and 7. Yet Angel is probably a rare example of a long running show that managed to get better until the bitter end.

I guess I understand she is trying not to like/be with Spike, but come on get over it. She has slept with many many times now, and still persists in feeling persecuted or out of control or something.

Funny, that was probably my single favorite moment in any episode of any Joss Whedon show.

FWIW, if anyone wants to read Sessa's old Buffy thread, I found a portion of it available on archive.org.

SEVERE SPOILER WARNING!

The thread goes through near the end of Season 6 of the show, and the version of the thread that archive.org has removed all the formatting, meaning spoiler tagged items are readily readable. So I would recommend not reading it unless you've seen the entire run of the show, and probably the entire run of Angel too.

I honestly haven't seen season six and seven since it originally aired and I was 14/15 years-old. Now that I'm almost 20 I really need to rewatch the episodes, I'm pretty sure they make so much more sense now, and I'll have a lot more understanding.
